RESOLUTIqN N0. 1847
WHEREAS, the State Legi�lature heretcfore adopted the
"ENVZRONMENTAL POLICY ACT OF 1971" as contained in RC[�I 43 .109x, and
WHEREAS, the City wi.shes to implement, i.n part, such Act as
it relates to the hereinbelow specifi.ed improvements , NO[�I THERE.FORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL QF THE CTTY OF RENTON ,
WASHTNGTON, AS FOLLOTnIS :
SECTIQN I : It shall be the responsibility of the C�.ty
Engineering Department and the Board of Public Works to timely advi_se
the Mayor and the City Counoil of all proposed public works projects
that may result in any substantial or material changes or modi.�i.cations
of any existi.ng use or design patterns. or have substantial effect on
the members of the public, including but not limit�ng to the foll��aing
s.ubstantial ianprovements, to-wit :
(a� Any change, modi.fi.cation or alterati.on of any
traffic signali.zation and channelizati.on plans �hich �aould restrict
turning movements. on any major or arteri.al street with.i,n the City of
Renton.
(b? Any clianges i,n an establ�shed grade of one foot or
more on any public street or right of r�ay.
Cc) Any material increase in width of any public
street or righ�.'-of �a�r and/or any substant�al changes in alignment
thereof.
(d) Any other public �aorks projects including but not
limiting it to storm drainage. facili,ti.es, water and se�er line installa-
tions that may have a si.gni,ficant or substantial impact on the �ubli.c.
' SECTI:ON II : It shall be the duty of the City Counci.l to
determine, wh.enever any such �nformation as h.ereinabove outli,ned has
been brought to their attenti.on, whether any public h.earing shall be �',
held regarding such proposed improvement. In add%tion, theCi_ty I
Council ma� require the responsible official of such City department 'I

to prepare a detai.led environmental impact statement consistent with.
the provisions of RCGI 43 .109x, together �aith. such. additi.onal
information or data as the City Counci..l may request from time to time .
