HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 4739 Amends: ORD 4223, 4446 Amended by ORD 4806,5508 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON ORDINANCE NO. 4 7 3 9 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON AMENDING SUBSECTIONS 5-4-2.A AND D OF CHAPTER 4, ANIMAL LICENSES, OF TITLE V (FINANCE AND BUSINESS REGULATIONS), OF ORDINANCE NO. 4260 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON", BY CHANGING THE ANIMAL LICENSE FEES FROM AN ANNUAL FEE TO A TWO-YEAR FEE. WHEREAS, the Renton City Council has determined that animal control is a basic City function; and WHEREAS, the Renton City Council adopted a policy position in the 1998 Budget to license animals every other year; and WHEREAS, Chapter 4, Animal Licenses, of Title V (Finance and Business Regulations), of the Renton Municipal Code has not been changed to reflect the changes made to fees established in the 1994 Budget. SECTION I. Subsections 5-4-2.A and D of Chapter 4, Animal Licenses, of Title V (Finance and Business Regulations), of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton, Washington" are hereby amended to read as follows: A. The fees for a two-year animal license shall be as follows: Each dog (not altered) $13.00 Each dog (altered) 7.00 Each cat (not altered) 5.00 Each cat (altered) 3.00. � D. All applications for such licenses shall be made to the Finance and Information Services Administrator and the two-year license fees shall be paid upon receipt of a renewal notice. In the event that the owner or custodian of any such dog or cat fails to procure and fails 1 -- ORDINANCE NO. 4 7 3 9 to pay for such license fee at or before the renewal date, or within thirty(30) days of acquiring the � ownership or custody of any such dog or cat, a late charge of ten dollars ($10.00) shall be added to the regular license fee. The City may require reasonable evidence to deternune the date of acquisition or custody of any such dog or cat to ascertain whether a late charge shall be imposed. SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be effective upon its passage, approval, and thirty (30) days after publication.
