HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 4596 Amends 3217, 4235, 4400, 4546 Amended by 4673� 4768 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON ORDINANCE NO. 4596 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION 4-24-5 OF CHAPTER 24, UNIFORM BUILDING CODE; SECTIONS 4-25-1, 4-25-4 AND 4-25-5, OF CHAPTER 25, NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE; SIIBSECTION 4-27-1.E OF CIiAPTER 27, UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE; AND SECTION 4-28-2 OF CHAPTER 28, UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE, OF TITLE IV (BUILDING REGULATIONS) , OF ORDINANCE NO. 4260 ENTITLED "CODE OF , GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON" BY ADOPTING THE ' 1996 NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE AND IIPDATING SERVICE FEES. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS : SECTION I . Section 4-24-5 of Chapter 24, Uniform Building Code, of Title IV (Building Regulations) , of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" is amended to read as follows : 4-24-5 : Extra Fees . Whenever any application is to be handled under the terms of any portion of the City' s land use codes, adopted codes, or the Uniform Building Code, and that application is so large, complicated, or technically complex that it cannot be handled with existing City staff, or duplicative of prior work, then an additional fee can be charged which is equivalent to the extra costs incurred by the City of Renton to pay: A. Overtime costs, B. The pro-rata costs of additional employees necessary � to handle the application, C. The costs expended to retain qualified consultants to handle the project, and . ORDINANCE NO. 4596 D. Any general administrative costs when directly attributable to the project . Such extra fees shall be charged only to the extent incurred beyond that normally incurred for processing an application. E. For replacement of lost or mutilated permit - service fee of $20 . 00 . SECTION II. Section 4-25-1 of Chapter 25, National Electrical Code, of Title IV (Building Regulations) of Ordinance No. 4260 Entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton, Washington" is hereby amended to read as follows : 4-25-1: ADOPTION: The National Electrical Code, 1996 Edition, published by the National Fire Protection Association, of which not less than one .printed copy in book form has heretofore been filed in the office of the City Clerk and made available for examination by �' the public, is hereby adopted as the National Electrical Code, 1996 , Edition, for the City of Renton, which Code may be hereafter designated as "City of Renton Electrical Code, 1996 ; " and any and all amendments, addition or modifications thereto when printed and filed with the City Clerk of the City of Renton by authorization of the City Council from time to time shall be considered and accepted and constitute a part of such Code without the necessity of further adoption of such amendments, modifications or additions by the I legislative authority of the City of Renton or by ordinance. SECTION III. Subsections 4-25-4 .0 and 4-25-4 .D of Chapter 25, National Electrical Code, of Title IV (Building Regulations) , of Ordinance No. 4260 Entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton, Washington" are hereby rescinded. 2 ORDINANCE NO. 4596 , SECTION IV. Subsections 4-25-5 .A. 8 and 4-25-5 .A. 9 of Chapter 25, National Electrical Code, of Title IV (Building Regulations) of i Ordinance No. 4260 Entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton, washington" are hereby amended to read as follows : 8 . Limited Voltage : Fees for limited voltage installations - those systems operating under 50 volts are 250 of the above amount . Telephone communication systems are exempt from fees under this section. 9 . Plan review fee when required: 400 of electrical permit fee. SECTION V. Section 4-25-5 .A of Chapter 25, National � Electrical Code, of Title IV (Building Regulations) of Ordinance No. 4260 Entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton, Washington" is hereby amended by adding subsection 11 which reads as follows : 11 . Permit copies will be furnished upon payment of a service fee of $20 . 00 . SECTION VI. Subsection 4-27-1 .E of Chapter 27, Uniform Mechanical Code, of Title IV (Building Regulations) , of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" is hereby amended to read as follows : E: Table No. 3A, Mechanical Permit Fees : For the issuance of each permit $30 . 00 Unit Fee Schedule: � For Replacement of Lost or Mutilated Permit-Service Fee $20 . 00 Installation, alteration, repair, addition, or relocation of each: Heating system (furnace, heat pump, suspended heater, fireplace, 3 ORDINANCE NO. 4596 wood stove) including ducts and vents . $15 . 00 Installation, alteration, repair, addition or relocation of each: HVAC system (air conditioner, chiller) including installation of controls regulated by this Code $15 . 00 Installation or relocation of each boiler or compressor; to and I including 3 horsepower, $15 . 00 Over 3 horsepower to and including 15 horsepower $27 . 50 Over 15 horsepower to and including 30 horsepower $37 . 50 Over 30 horsepower to and including 50 horsepower $55 . 50 Over 50 horsepower $93 . 00 Installation or relocation of each absorption system: To and including 100, 000 Btu/h $15 . 00 Over 100, 000 Btu/h to and including 500, 000 Btu/h $27 .50 Over 500, 000 Btu/h to and including 1, 000, 000 Btu/h $37 . 50 Over 1, 000, 000 Btu/h to and including 1, 750, 000 Btu/h $55 . 50 Over 1, 750, 000 Btu/h $93 . 00 Each air-handling unit including ducts attached thereto: $15 . 00 Each residential ventilation/exhaust fan $ 7 . 00 Each commercial ventilation system not a 'portion of any heating or air-conditioning system authorized by a permit $ 9 . 00 Installation of each commercial hood served by mechanical exhaust, including the ducts for such hood $45 . 00 Installation or relocation of each incinerator $75 . 00 Each appliance or piece of equipment regulated by this Code but not classed in other appliance categories, or for which no other fee is i listed in this Code $15 . 00 When Chapter 22 is applicable (see Section 103) permit fees for fuel-gas piping shall be as follows : Each gas-piping system of one to four outlets $10 . 00 For each outlet over 4 $ 2 . 00 � 4 ORDINANCE NO. 4596 When Chapter 24 is applicable (see Section 103) , permit fees for process piping shall be as follows : Each hazardous process piping system (HPP) of one to four outlets $10 . 00 For each outlet over 4 $ 2 . 00 For each nonhazardous process piping system (NPP) of one to four outlets $10 . 00 For each outlet over 4 $ 2 . 00 For alteration or relocation of ductwork and/or diffusers : Each Floor ' SECTION VII. Section 4-28-2 of Chapter 28, Uniform Plumbing Code, of Title IV (Building Regulations, ) of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" is hereby amended to read as follows : 4-28-2 : SECTION 20.7 U.P.C.
