AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING
CHAPTER 8, OF TIxLE I (ADMINISTRATIVE) , OF ORDINANCE NO.
4260 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
', RENTON, WASHINGTON" BY MODIFYIN(3 THE LISTING OF LEGAL
HOLIDAYS AND DELETING VACATIONS FROM THE CODE BOOK.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. Chapter 8, Holidays and Vacations, of Title I
(Administrative) , of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled "Code of General
Ordinances of the City of Renton, Washington, " is hereby retitled
as Chapter 8, Holidays.
, SECTION II. Section 1-8-1 of Chapter 8, Holidays, of Title
I (Administrative) , of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled .."Code of..General
Ordinances of �the City of .Renton, Washington, " is hereby amended to
read as follows :
Section 1-8-1: Establishing Legal._ Holiday.s : The
following are hereby declared and established as legal holidays in
the City of Renton and recognized as such legal holidays for the
employees of the City, without loss of pay:
A. The first day of ,7anuary, commonly called New Year ' s Day.
B. The last Monday in May, commonly known as Memorial Day.
C. The fourth day of July, being the anniversary of the �
Declaration of Independence.
D. The first Monday in September, to be known as Labor Day.
E. The eleventh day of November, to be known as Veterans '
Day.

F. The fourth Thursday in November, to be known as
Thanksgiving Day.
G. The day immediately following Thanksgiving Day.
H. The twenty-fifth of. December, commonly called Christmas
Day.
I . The day before Christmas shall be a holiday for City
employees when Christmas Day occurs on a Tuesday or Friday. The -
day after Christmas shall be a holiday for City employees when
Christmas day occurs on a Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday. When
Christmas Day falls on a Saturday, the preceding Thursday and
Friday shall be holidays for City employees. When Christmas Day
falls on a Sunday, the following Monday and Tuesday shall be
holidays for City employees .
Nothing in this section shall have the. effe.ct of adding.
or deleting the number of paid holidays provided for in any �,,
existing bargaining agreements between the City and its employees . '
If any of the above specified State legal holidays are
also Federal legal holidays but observed on different dates, only
the State legal holidays shall be recognized as a paid legal
holiday for the employees of the City of Renton as hereinabove set
forth.
Whenever any legal holiday, other than Sunday, falls upon
Sunday, the following Monday shall be a legal holiday; likewise,
when any such legal holiday falls upon a Saturday, the preceding
Friday shall be deemed a legal holiday.
SECTION III . Section 1-8-2 , Vacations, of Chapter 8,
Holidays, of Title I (Administrative) , of Ordinance No. 4260

ORDINANCE NO. �435
entitled "Code of General Ordinarices of the City of Renton,
Washington, " is hereby deleted in its eritirety.
SECTION IV. This Ordinance shall be effective upon its
passage, approval, and thirty days after publication.
