AN ORDINANCE OI' THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING I
SUBSECTIONS $-1-$,A.�.a AND 8-1-8-A.l,b OF CHAPTER 1, I
GARBAGE, OF TITLE VIII (HEALTH AND SANITATION) OF
ORDIATANCE NO. 4260 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES
OF �HE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON" AS IT RELATES TO
UTILITY PENALTY AND INTEREST CHARGES.
SECTION I. Subsections 8-1-8 .A. l.a and 8-1-8.A. l .b of
Chapter 1, Garbage, of Tit1e VIII (Health and Sanitation) of
Ordinance No. 4260 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the
City of Renton, Washington" are hereby amended to read as follows : �
Subsection 8-1-8.A.l.a: Al1 charges for collection services
rendered and billed hereunder shall be due and payable to the City
within thirty (30) days from billing date.
Section 8-1-8.A.l.b: If the charges billed are not paid
within the fifteen ( 15) day period from the due date, such charges
shall become delinquent. Once the charges become delinquent,
there shall be added a late fee of ten percent ( 10$) of the past
due charges but not less than fifty cents ( $0 .50) to compensate
the City for handling the past due account, subsequent billings,
and any collection action taken. Additionally, there sha.11 be
assessed interest at the rate of one percent ( 1�) per month on the '�
unpaid balance.
SECTION II. This Ordinance shail be effective upon its
passage, approval, and thirty days after publication.
