ADOPTION OF THE 1990 NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO ORDPIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTIONl' I. Chapter 25, Uniform Electrical Code, of Title
IV (Building Regulations) , of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled "Code of
General Ordinances of the City of Renton, Washington" is hereby
amer.ded by retitling the chapter National Electrical Code.
SECTION II . Section 4-25-1 of Chapter 25, National
Electrical Code, of Title IV {Building Regulations ) , of Ordinance
No. 4260 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of
Renton, Washington" is hereby amended to read as follows :
�-25-1: ADOPTION: The National Electrical Code 1990 Edition,
issued by the National Fire Protection Association, o� which not

in the office of the City Clerk and made available for examination
, by the public, is hereby adopted as the National Electrical Code
for the City of Renton, whicn Code may be herea�t�r_ des�gnated as
City of Renton Electrical Code; and any aad �ail amen�ments,
additions or modifications thereto when printed «r�d fil�d cvith the
City Clerk of the City of Renton by authorization of the C�.ty
Council from time to time shall be con�idered and accepted anc:

amendments, modifications or additions by the legislative authority
of the City of Renton or by ordinance. In addition to the National
Electrical Code, a Cit electrical ermit is re uired before an

electrical work commences .
SECTION III. Section 4-25-4 .B of Chapter 25, National
Electrical Code, of Title IV (Building Regulations ) , of Ordinance
No. 4260 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of
Renton, Washington" is hereby amended to read as follows :
4-25-4.8: Non metallic sheathed cable shall be allowed only in
residential occupancies up to three (3 ) stories above grade.
SECTION IV. This Ordinance shall be effective upon its
passage, approval, and thirty days after publication.
