ORDINANCE NO. 4323
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMBNDING
SUBSECTION 7-2-5.B.8 OF CHAPTER 2, IINDERGROIIND STORAGE
TANR SECONDARY CONTAINMENT ORDINANCE, OF TITLE VII (FIRE
REGULATIONS) , OF ORDINANCE NO. 4260 ENTITLED "CODE OF
GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON"
REI�ATING TO REQIIIREMENTS FOR OVERFLOW SPILL PROTECTION.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN �
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. Subsection 7-2-5.B.8 of Chapter 2, Underground
Storage Tank Secondary Containment Ordinance, of Title VII (Fire
Regulations) , of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled "Code of Generai
Ordinances of the City of Renton, Washington" is hereby amended to
read as follows:
7-2-S.B.8: Al1 underground storage tanks shall be equipped
with an overflow spill protection system; a combination of "a" and
at least one additional method of "b" through "d" must be used and
is defined as follows:
a. A spill catchment basin which surrounds the fill pipe and
prevents the inflow of the hazardous substance into the subsurface
environment.
b. A level sensing device that continuously monitors and
indicates the liquid level in the underground storage tank.
c. An audible/visual alarm system triggered by a liquid
level sensor to alert the operator of an impending overfill
condition.
, d. An automatic shut-off device that stops the flow of
product being delivered to the underground storage tank when the
underground storage tank is full.

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be effective upon its ���
passage, approval, and thirty days after its publication.
