AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REMTON, WASHINGTON� AMEND�N�
CHAPTER 12, TRAFFIC CODE, OF TITLE R (TRAFFIG,� :. OF
ORDIPTANCE NO. 4260 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES
OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON" BY ADDING A �QEbrl
SECTION 10-12-25 RELATING TO OPERATING A VEHIGLE IN ,A�T
INATTENTIVE MANNER.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHZNG'Y'ON, DO ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS: �
SECTION I. Chapter 12, Traffic Code, of Title X (Traffic) ,
of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the
City of Renton, Washington" is hereby amended by adding the
following section:
Section 10-12-25: Inattentive Driving.
A. Inattention: It shall be unlawful to drive a motor
vehicle on any street, alley, or way open to the public of the City
of Renton in an inattentive manner. Inattentive manner means the
operation of a motor vehicle in a manner that evidences a lack of:
( 1) that degree of attentiveness required to safely operate tlie
vehicle under the prevailing conditions, including; but not limited
to, the nature and condition of the roadway, presence of
pedestrians, or the presence of other traffic; or (2 ) that clegree
of attentiveness as will allow the driver of a motor vehicle to I
observe anything resting on or traveling on the roadway in t�me to , I
take appropriate action as� circumstances require.
B. Penalty: Inattentive driving shall be a t�'affic
' infraction. Any person found to have committed the infraction: of
inattentive driving shall be fined in an amount not to exceed

$85 .00, exclusive of costs and assessments provided for by law.
The municipal court shall have authority to establish bail amount �
within the aforementioned limit.
SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be effective u�aQn its
passage, approval, and thirty days after publication:' a ,
