HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 4288 ` � ' ' M • '• `�; - ' � Amends O��d ��`�` 4234 &' 3761 ' Amended by Ord 4335 � ���� CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON ORDINANCE NO. 4288 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTIONS 7-1-4.D AND 7-1-4.M OF CHAPTER 1, UNIFORM FIRE CODE, OF TITLE VII (FIRE REGULATIONS) OF ORDINANCE NO. 4260 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF TIiE CITY OF RENTON" BY ADDING SUBSECTIONS RELATING TO OUTDOOR CARNIVALS AND FAIRS. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. Section 7-1-4 .D of Chapter 1, Uniform Fire Code, of Title VII (Fire Regulations) , of Ordinance No. 4620 entitled I "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" is hereby amended t o read as follows : Section 7-1-4.D: Article 4 of the Uniform Fire Code 1988 Edition is hereb , , Y amended to read as follows : Article 4, Section 4-108, is amended by adding section C.2 to read as follows : 1 . Carnivals and fairs . For permit to conduct a carnival or fair, see Article 25 - Division V. The Chief may require plans of the grounds to be submitted. For purposes of this ordinance, � carnival or fair is defined as a mobile enterprise principally devoted to offering amusement or entertainment to the public in, upon, or by means of portable amusement rides or devices or temporary structures in any number or combination, whether or not associated with other structures or forms of public attraction. 2 . Article 4, section 4-109 : Permits and Certificates. Except for permits issued in accordance with sections 11 . 101 and 1 • I - . l • , . ' _. ' , ORDINANCE NO. 4288 � � 11 . 113 and Section 25 of the tTniform Fire Code, which permits shall be non-fee permits, the fee for permits issued in accordance with Article 4 of the Uniform Fire Code shall be $15 .00 per year. The permits shall expire one year after date of issuance. The permit fee shall be payable at or before the time of issuance or renewal of the permit. In the event of failure to renew a permit within thirty (30) days after its renewal date, the fee for renewal of the permit shall double the amount of the above-stated fee. SECTION II. Section 7-1-4 .M of Cha ter I Uniform Fire Code p � ► of Title VII (Fire Regulations) , of Ordinance No. 4620 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton, " is hereby amended to read as follows : Section 7-1-4.M: Article 25 of the Uniform Fire Code, 1988 Edition, is hereby amended to read as follows : 1 . Section 25 . 101 . " Inspection Permit. " An inspection permit shall be required to operate a place of assembly as defined in Article 9 of the Uniform Fire Code. A fee of $10 . 00 shall be I, paid upon application of an inspection permit. � 2 . Division V - Outdoor Carnivals and Fairs . II�I a. Scope. Section 25 . 501 : The grounds of carnivals and fairs, including concession booths, shall conform to the requirements of this division and all other applicable requirements of this code. b. Section 25 .503, Grounds, shall comply with the following: (i) Fire apparatus access roads shall be provided in accordance with Section 32 . 105 . (ii) Firefighting appliances shall be provided for the entire midway as required by the chief. (iii) Maximum travel distance to a portable fire extinguisher shall not exceed 75 feet. (iv) All electrical equipment and installations shall comply with the Electrical Code. d. Concession Stands . Section 25 .504, Concession Stands, shall comply with the following: (i) Concession stands utilized for cooking shall have minimum 10 feet of clearance on two sides and shall not be located within 10 feet of amusement rides or devices . ' (ii) A 40-BC rated dry chemical fire extinguisher shall be provided where deep-fat fryers are in use. e. Internal Combustion Power Sources . Section 25 . 505, Internal combustion power sources, including motor vehicles, generators, and similar equipment shall comply with the following: 3 , � .. � , , . ' , ' . .
