RESOLUTION N0. 1702
WHEREAS the City of Renton has heretofore completed the
construction and improvement of that certain sportsstadium situated
in Liberty Park which structure was completed on or about August 19,
1968 , and
WHEREAS Glen C. Gianini had served as a member of the City
Council of the City of Renton from June 4, 1962 to December 4, 1967
and as such member had been instrumental and extremely active in
the planning and implementation of such a stadium in order to
further the interest of young and old in all types of outdoor
sports activities, and
WHEREAS said Glen C. Gianini has for many years past devoted
much of his time in the interest and betterment of such sports ,
especially baseball and has been a tireless advocate of better
facilities for all such sports activities, and
WHEREAS it is deemed proper and advisable to name that
certain stadium in Liberty Park "THE GLEN C. GIANINI STADIUM" in
recognition of the efforts undertaken heretofore by said named
individual; NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF RENTON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The aforestated findings and recommendations
are hereby found to be true and correct in all respects .
SECTION II: In recognition of the tireless efforts and
works performed by Glen C. Gianini, a former Councilman of the
City of Renton, in the promotion arid betterment of all sports
and facilities in connection therewith, that certain stadium
now situated in Liberty Park, Renton, Washington, is hereby
named and dedicated"2he Glen C. Gianini Stadium" .
