RESOLUTION N0. ,� �0 `�
WHEREAS the City of Renton heretofore passed and adopted
Resolution No. 1531 under date of April 8 , 1968 , in support of a stadium
site in certain alternate areas outside the City of Seattle, as then
recommended by the County 's consultants, and
WHEREAS said Resolution further opposed the location of
such stadium within the Seattle Center complex, and
WHEREAS the voters of King County at an election on May 19 ,
197Q , overwhelmingly supported the idea to discontinue any plans , projects
or constructions within the Seattle Center area for such a domed stadium,
and
WHEREAS since that time new recommendations have been made
by the Advisory Commission for the location of said stadium, NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION �: The City of Renton hereby lends its full and
unqualified support for the proposed site, generally referred to as
"Longacres East" as the most suitable, economical and convenient location
' for the construction of a domed stadium which said site will afford the
greatest benefit to the people of King County by reason of its easily
accessible location, surrounding recreational facilities and availability
of service facilities including hotels , motels and resturants .
The City of Renton therefore requests the appropriate
county officials to give prompt and due consideration to the aforementioned
site at the earliest possible date .
