HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1708 � { . � � " ' r C � � ' � µ"� , .. � � , • f_ � � • ~ '� \« RESOLUTION N0. f �D � WHEREAS, there has been an urgent request from the National Governors ' Conference concerning the sharing of revenues by the Federal government with the individual states and local communities;and WHEREAS legislation has been pending in the Congress regarding this subject matter which proposed legislation, in princ`iple, has also been indorsed by the United States Conference of Mayors , The National League of Cities and the National Association of Counties; and WHEREAS it is necessary and advisable that the general public be made aware of the concept of revenue sharing and speedy and continuous � action is necessary to urge our respective representatives in both houses of the Congress to take an active part in the consideration and passage of such revenue sharing measures including but not limiting it to the proposal sent by the President of the United States to the Congress requesting passage of such bill, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON AS FOLLOWS: � SECTION I: The above recitals and findings are hereby found � and determined to be true and correct in all respects . SECTION II: The City of Renton, a municipal corporation under laws and statutes of the State of Washington, hereby goes on record in full support of the general principie and concept of revenue sharing by states , counties and municipal corporations of Federal tax sources and the City hereby urges the members of both houses of Congress , the general public and all other interested parties and organizations to lend its full support to the general concept of sueh revenue sharing. SECTION III : The City of Renton further appeals to both houses of the Congress to grant and allocate a high priority to this subject matter and to initiate and hold hearings without delay.
