HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1639 . �• •. � � ' •,� � • '� RESOLUTION N0. � A resolution authorizing applications for funding assistance for outdoor recreation projects to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation as provided by the Marine Recreation Land Act, and the $10,000,000 Outdoor Recreation Bond Issue of 1964, and the $40,000,000 Outdoor Recreation Bond Issue (Ref. Bill No. 18) of 1968. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton has approved a "Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan�' which identifies the acquisition of additional waterfront property on Lake Washington as number one priority; and WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recreation Land Act, and the $10,000,000 Outdoor Recreation Bond Issue of 1964, and the $40,000,000 Outdoor Rec- reation Bond Issue of 1968, state and federal funding assistance has been authorized and made available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks and the construc- tion of outdoor recreational facilities of local public bodies; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton considers it in the best public interest to acquire the fotlowing waterfront property: A portion of the City of Renton westerly of Lake Washington Boutevard between S.E. 100th Street (No. 24th Street) and North 20th Street. (Addition #3, approx. 12 acres) NOW THEREFORE B E IT RESOLVED BY 1�1E MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON: 1 ) That the Mayor be authorized to make formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation for fund assistance, 2) That any fund assistance so received be used in the acquisition of the aforementioned waterfront property in the City of Renton, Washington, 3) That any property acquired with financial aid through the Interagency Com- mittee for Outdoor Recreation be placed in use as an outdoor recreation facility and be retained in such use in perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and agreed to by the City Council , the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation, and any affected f ederal agency, and 4) That this Resolufiion become part of a formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation.
