A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO ADOPT FOR THE CITY
OF RENTON THE CLASSIFICATION OF NON CHARTER
COD� CITY AS GOVERNED BY THE PROVTSIONS OF
CHAPTER 35A. 02 OF THE REVISED CODE OF WASHINGTON;
FURTHER DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE CITY �'�`
REORGANIZE ITS MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT UNDER THE
MAYOR-COUNCIL PLAN AS PROVID£D FOR IN CHAPTER
35A. 12 OF THE REVISED CODE OF WASHINGTON
WHEREAS there is now available for adoption by the City of
Renton, Washington, under the provisions of Chapter 35A of the Revised
Code of Washington, commonly referred to as the "Optional Municipal
Code" , having become effective on July 1, 1969 , th� classification of
Non Charter Code City; and
WHEREAS the City Council after due investigation and
recommendation of its Advisory Committee feels and determines that
the adoption of such classification as Non Charter Code City will
serve the best interest and gerieral welfare of the City of Renton
and tend to make local government more efficient by providing greater
home rule, NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : It is hereby found and determined that the
best interest and the general welfare of the City of Renton will be
served to change the classification of the City of Renton from that
of a City of the Second Class to that of a Non Charter Code City
as provided for in Chapter 35A. 02 of the Revised Code of Washington,
commonly referred to as the "Optional Municipal Code" .
SECTION II : That .it is therefore the intention of the
City Council of the City of Renton to adopt for such City the
classification of Non Charter Code City as hereinabove set forth.
SECTION III: That it is further the intention of the
City Council of the City of Renton to reorganize the municipal
government under the Mayor-Council Plan as specified in Chapter 35A. 12
of the Revised Code of Washington.

SECTIQN TV. That the City Clerk is hereby autharized and

directed to publish this Resa7ztion at least ance in the/legal
� newspaper., to-wit: The Record-Chronicle, a newspaper of general
, circulata.on within the Ci-ty of Renton, within ten days after �he
passage hereaf,
SECTION V: That in the event no timely and sufficien�
referendum petitian has been filed as pravided for in �hapter 35A. 02 . 030
and as further determined and specified in RCW 35A. 29.170 , within
90 days of the firs� publication of this Resolution as aforesaid, "
then the City Council shall, by appropriate ordinance, adop-� �or the
City of Renton the classification of Non Charter Cade City and �o
further organize under the Mayor-Council P1an o� government as

specified inChapter 35A.12 of the Revised Code af Washington.
