RES�LUTION N0. �U �� WHEREAS the CITY flF RENTON, a City of the Second Class under the laws and statutes of the State of �Ja io ton, is presently without legal counsel or adviser, t�e Mayor and Council having failed to agree upon an appointment to the office of nCity Attorney'�,- and Wi�EREAS it has been determined and found by the �City_Council that it is of the utmost necessity and urgen�y to immediately and continuously have legal counsel and adviser to cortsult and advise with the City Council and the officars of the City in matters pertaining to their respective offices, including the Co�unissions, Boards and _Departments of the City, and to represent the City in all litigation now pending or which may hereafter arise in tahich the City is a party or directly intereste3; and WHEREAS the City Council believes and hereby finds that the employ- ment of such special Iegal consultant is necessary and for the public benefit until such time as the statutory office of nCity Attorney" has been filTed as provided by law or until such time as the employment of such special legal consultant may otherwise be terminated by the City Cdr`3nci1�INOW THEz2EFORE BE IT R�SOLVED BY fiHE CITY COIJI�iCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON AS FOI,LOWSs l. The above findings and recitals are hereby found to be true and correct in all respects. � 2. The CITY OF RENTON, by and throug'n its City Council, hereby II, hires and employs as special legal consultants to the CITY OF RENTON effective July 6, 1960, the law firm of HAUGAN & SHELIAN, of Renton, Washington, to act I as and be the iegal advisers and special legal consultants to the City Council, the various offi:cers of the City in relation to matters pertaining to their res- pective offices, the Boards, Conanissions, and Departments of the City government, and to represent the City as such special legal consultiants in all litigation now pending in which the City is a party or directly intprested and such other litigation as may be assigned to said special consultants by t�te City Council, and in prosecution of violations of City Ordinances. 3. The �compensation and remuneration to be paid by the.City to said legal consultants, commencing and effective as of July 6, 19b0, shall be as follows: Gerard M. Shellan, special legal consultant, the sum of $390.00 per mont'n; Art'nur L. Haugan, special Iegal consultant, the sum of $390.00 per month. -1- � � . � . . � I � � p The position of part-time legal stenographer and its cotnpensation of -$145.00 per month as provided for in the .CITY OF RENTON�`S ouxrent legal department budget, .Account No. 7006, shall continue in force and effect. The abave payments shall be made from funds heretofore budgeted andJor hereafter transferred for such purposes or budgeted in the future, all in compliance with the laws of the State of zJashirtgton and the CITY -OF RENTON. 4.
