RESOLtlTION N0. 1072
RESOLUTION APPROVING APPLSCATT4N FOR .
PRELIMINARY LOAN FOR LOW�RENT PII$LIC HOUSING
WI�R:�AS, it is the policy of this locality to s13m�.nate
substandard and other inadequate housing, to prevent the spread
of sluras and blight, and to realize as sooz� as feasible the goal
of a decent hor�e 3.n a suitable living environment for all of its
citizens; and
WIiER�AS, under the provisions of the United States Hous3.ng
Act of 1937� as amended, the Public Houszng Administrati.on is
authorized to provide financi.al assistance to local public housing
agencies for undertaking and carrying out prelimi.nary planning of
low�-rsn�G housing pro jects �hat will ass3.st in. meeting this goal;
and
WI�REAS, the Act provides that there shall be loeal
de�erm3.nation of need for low-rent housing to meet needs not being
adequately me� by private enterpriae and that the Public Housin�
Admi.nistration shall no� make an� contract with a public housing
a�ency for prel3.mi.nary loans for surveys and planning in respect
to any low*-rent housing pro,�eets un3.ess �he govsrning body of the
locality i.nvolved has by resolutian approved the appli�ation of
the public hous3.ng agency for auch preliminary loan; and
Y�HGREAS, the Housing Author3.ty of the City of Renton
� (herein called the "Local Authority") ia a public hous3r� agency
and ia applyin.g to the 1'u.blia Housi.ng Administration for a pre-
liminary loan to cover the costs of surveys and planning 3n
connection with the development of low-rant housing;
NOW THEREFORE be 3.� resolved b the Cit Council of

the City of Renton as follows:
1. There egist� in the� City of Renton a nesd for such
low-rent hous3ng at rents within the means of low-income families;
2. The application of the Local Authority to the Public
Housing Administration for a pre3iminary loan in an amount not to
exceed $ 12,�0,00 for surveys and planning in connection
with low-rent pro�ects of not to exceed ap�oximately s�.xt,y (60)
dwelling units is hereby approved.
