R�SOLUTION Nb. /��� w'I�S the City of Rent�n has heretofore caused to be placed on the ballot at the last genera�. election a pro�osition for the construction and fwrnish- ang of a r�w library building within the �City of �nton at a cos� of �1�50�000„00, and W�3F�tEAS said ro osition known as Pro osition No I �ras narrowl defeated I P P � P • � Y - at the po11� on November 8� 1960, and W�E�F�QS the present library building is overcrowded and insufficient to accommodate the public in an efficient manner, and t��RF.�S �he"r.e i����ossly�iri�i�fficient storage space to store and shelve books and other library materials, and ti�REAS the City � Renton has here�,ofore acquired a cer�ain parcel of propert�r immediately adjoin3_ng the present library builcli.ng which sa:�d property is presently under Zease to a private busin.ess but �ich lease by its terms, wi13. e�ire on or about Nlar ch 31, 19b1, and WI�REAS said building �rould be suitab�e� on a temporar�r basis only� to provide for the storage of books �nd other materzals and provide a limited woris area �or the library staff� and such accommodations bei.ng considered o£ public benefits as a teMporary expeclient, and the Library Baard havir� heretofore furnished unto the City an itemized state�nt as to the anticipated expenses to be incurred in the utilization of such ad�oining building� including maintenance and opsration� and acquisitian of certain shelving and other library furniture, and WHEREAS the Library Board does not presently have funds in hand to finance such matters and a loan to said Library Board from the Cedar River Park Acquisition F�ind further being deemed proper and advisabl.e, N0�'�f THEAEFORE BE IT RESOLUID BY THE MAYOR AND xHE CITY CDUNCIL 0�' THE CI`�'Y OF �ENTON ,AS FQ?�I�(?WS: Section I. Section II, The Library Board is hereby given the right and permission to occupy and use that certain buil.ding immediately ad�oiaing the library bua�Zding, sI- � 1 a now occupied by F�anlc�.�& 3ohnnyt s Fvrniture Store and s�uch occupatian and use to become effective when the Cityts Frcesent lease with said furniture store e�ires.
