� "RESQI.UTION' RELATIVE TO A SURVEY OF THE RENTON FUBLIC LIBRARY SERVICES."

WHEREAS , the question has been raised as to the feasibility of the City
of Renton contracting for library service with the King County Public Librazy.
and ,
WHEREAS , no recent comprehensive evaluation has been made of library
services offered within the City of Renton , and
WHEREAS , the Board of Trustees of the Renton Public Library now faces
the need for an objective appraisal of library service , out of which the library
program of the future can be developed , and
INHEREAS, the Board of Trustees has approved s�?ch a survcy, NO�N THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVLD BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTE�_S OF THE RENTON PUBLTC LIBRARY
AS FOLLOYJS:
Section I. That a survey shall be made by the Librarian.
Section II. The objectives of the survey shall be to determine the
adequacy of the Renton Fublic Library to serve the needs of the City of Renton .
and to determine the feasibility of contracting for library service with the
King County Public Library� The survey shall contain a comparison of the
present servire with the nati�nal standards for public libraries established
b�i the American Library Association , also an evaluation of the book collection
with currently acceptable bibliographies.
Section III. The surve shall be made on a a
y long r nge basis and . as
the Librarian will be conducting this research in addition to his regular
duties , he shall submit progress reports quarterly.
