HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1186 t� • ' � � _ ✓ � ' . . - � � ' E �. � � s , _ , � Repealed by RES �� 3465 R�SOLUTION NQ. f,j� J�' , WI�RFAS the City of Renton has heretofore acquired by condemnation a certain area known as "Cedax River Park"� more particularly' described in Ord3.nance No. 1la.15� dated November i3, 1951 for the following public uses and purposes, to wit: site for oivic center, City Aa11 and other general public and municipal purposes? parks, playgrounds and recreational areas, and W?�EREAS th.e State of Washington by and through its State Highwa� Department has heretofore conderaned certain portions of said ��Ced.ar River Park�� for the purpose of constructing a limited access highway through the Cit,y of Renton, and �ifHE��EAS such highway construction wi11 tend to restrict the uses and suit- ability of said ��Cedar River Park�t and limit it to certain designated purposes, and w'I�S there is located a certain baseball field in an adjoining park area known as Liberty Park� which has been used for said p�urposes for several years past and such area is further suitable and adoptable for night games, and Wf�REAS the Cedar River Park area� by reason of the highway cond.emnation and the construction of banks and abutments in support of said highway is not suitable or desirable �or the construction or maintenance oi a lighted baseball fiel.d inasmuch as �he proper location of said field would be interferred with by the existing highway structure and other reasons� and i�'�AS the City Council deems it to the best interest of and for -the berLefit of the public to provide and establish a �ighted ba11 field within the Liberty Park area and funds therefor being available for said purpose; NOW THEREFORE BE IT P�ESOLVED BY THE MAYOR ,�ND TI-� CITY COUN�IL OF THE CI:3'Y OF RENTON, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION. I: The aforesaid fi.ndings and the termina.tions are hereby found to be true and correct in a11 raspects and it is deemed in the best public interest and for the public weL are to provide for the lighting of the ex�sting ball field located witr.in Liberty Park and to appropriate funds therefor. It is expressly fo�und and determined by the City Council that due to the aforesaid changes, conditions and circumstances a��ecting the Cedar River Park area and adjoining properties, it would be to -the advantage o� the City to utilize �he existing ball field area within Liberty Park and to provide the lighting thereat. -1- r f ♦ • ` ' • , q � y + y .
