WHEREAS the CITY OF RENTON heretofore adopted and passed Resolution No, 1203 under date of August 19, 1963 regarding the adpption; mainten�n��antl :administration of the Position Classification and Pay Plans as prepared by the Public Administra— tion Service and WHSREAS the Engineering Director has proposed the establish�nt of a new position classification for the purpose of maintaining, among others, a complete traffic sign$1 system,� NC1W THEREFOitE BE IT RESOLVED BY T'ElE MAYOR AND THE CI�Y COUNCIL C� THE Cl2Y OF RENTON AS FOLLaGIS: SECTION I: The "Postition Classification and Pay Plans for the City of Renton" t�eretofore adopted as per Resolution No. 1203 is hereby amended by adding thereto the following classification to be known as the "Traffic SignaZ Technician" as follows; Nature of Work: This is responsible technical work in maintaining a complete Traffic Signal System. An Employee in this class is responsible for the maintenance of all Traff ic Signals and Equipment including the auper.. vision of all new signal conatruction. Work is performed with a large degree of independence and initiative under the general supervision of engineering personnel authorized by the Engineering Director. Work is subject to review by the � Director through conferences, observations of results, and review of reports. The Traffic Signal Technician may direct the work of assigned laborers. , Examples of Work: To install, me�intain and repair traffic and fire alarm signals, overhead and underground signal circuits, system controls, to revise existing signal circuits and controls; to relamp all signals on � routine basis and keep all main— tenance records up to date. Performs related work as required. Desirable Knowled�es, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of electrical theory as applied to electrical circuits and wixing systems and of the standard practices, ssfety rules� tools and terminology of � the electrical trade. Thorough working knowledge of a wide variety of electrical, � mechanical and electronic equipment. � ; Ability to perform the heavy manual tasks relating to the work under any type of weather condition. i Desirable Tra ining and Exper ience: Three ye ars'experience as a signal techni— ` cian or in a rel�ated occupation providing experience and ` training in electrical and electronic the�ry and practice. A second.-class or higher, radia telephone operator's license from the Federai Communications Commission is highly desirable.
