SECTION I: Section 302 Ca) of Chapter 3 �Permits and Inspections) of tRe
"City of Renton Uniforn Building Code", 3:9b4� as adopted by reference in Chapter 1,
Title xv t8uildi,ng 4egulations} of Ordinance No. 1528 entit3ed "Code of Gec�ra3 t3rdi-
nances of the City of Rentan'", is hereby ameit�ded to read as Eollows:
3ec. 302. (a) Issuance. The application, pla�ns, anr� specifications
fiied by an applicant for a permit shall be ehecked by the Building
fl£ficial. Such p3ans casy be reviewed by other departments of the
city to checl� compl i.ance with the laws am� ordinances under the ir
jurisdictis�n. If the Building Official is s�tisfied that the work
described in an application for permit arnl ttte plans filed there-
with conforcu to the requiremeats flf this Code and other pextinent
laws and ordinances, and that the fee speci!'ied in Section 303 �a)
has been paid, he shall issue a permit therefor to the applicant.
When the Huilding Official issues the permit, he shall endorse
in writing or stamp an both sets of plans and specifications "AP-
PROVED". Such appraved p3ans and specifications ehali nat be chan-
ged, modified, or altered withaut authorization fz�om the Bui2,dit�g
O€f i.cial, a�l aIl work. shal l be dane in accordance with L�e a pproved
plans.
The Building Off iciai map issue a �ermit for the construction of .
pa�rt af a building or structure before the entire plans and speci�.-
cations for the whole building or structure ttave been submitted or I
approved provided adequate informatioa and detailed statements have I
been fiied complying with a21 pertit►ent require�nents of this C��e. j
The holder af such permit shall proceed at his own risk withaut i
assurance that the permit �ar ttte eatire bui2ding or strueture wi12
be g ra nted.
Whenever a buildiag permit is appl ied for under the pr�visions I
� o� said Building Code for new construction of a multiple dwelling, �
consisting of two or more anits, public assemblp, cammercial or I
industrial structure, or alteration of an existing st�ructure of said I
type, in excess of � l���°� � , then the pergon a�pplying for such
building permit sha2i simultaaeausly forthwith a3so make application
for a �rmit, as an integral part of such new conatructian or the
alteration thereof, for the building and insta�lation of sidewalks�
cnrbs, g�tters and street gaving as necessary �n a12 sides of sttch
property to be impraved upon, that caay ad join a public street; said
sidewalks, curbs, gutters and street paving shall extend the full
distance that such propertp to be improved upon is sought to be
occupied as a building site or parking arrea for the afaresaid build-
ing purposes and which may adjoi.n property dedicated as a pub2ic ,
st�eet.

ters and street gaving shall otherwise conform to S�andard Speci-

IX (Public Ways and Property) af Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code

ar dist�zrbing streets, alleys, pavement or impravements.
I The City Engineer or hi.s d�z1.y authorized representati.ve may waive
the requirements af this Ordinance in those areas where tota3. com-
pliance wi.th the terms of this section would not be in harmony with
the City�s Co�prehensive Plan, includin� any interference or devi.a-
� tion from the City�s six-year �treet improvement program, or wherever
said construction, addi.tion or alteration is located in an �.sol.ated . ..
area or where the adjainin.g or abutting street is wni�rnproved or
.�zibstandaxd..
SECTION II: A].l other terms, coriditions and provisions of the f'City of
Renton iTnifarm Building Code�{, 1.96l�, unless otherwise specifical.ly amended h$rei.x2,
sha11 remain in fu11 farce and effect.
SEC2SON III: This Urdinance shall. be in full force and effect fram and
after its passage, approval and legal publiaation.
