AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHI�GTON, AMENDING TITLE VI (POLICE
REGULATIONS) OF ORDINANCE N0. 1628
ENTITLED '�CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES
OF THE CITY OF RENTON" BY ESTABLISHING
A NEW CHAPTER KNO[niN AS CHAPTER 18 ,
PROHIBITING"GLUE SNIFFING" AND RELATED
ACTIVITIES AND PROVIDING PENAL�"�ES
FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS: �
SECTION I : There is hereby established a new Chapter, entitled
Chapter 18 of Title VI (Police Regulations) of Ordinance No. 1628 ,
entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" reading
as follows :
Chapter 18 , Title VI :
(a) As used in this Ordinance the term "model
glue" or "glue" shall mean any glue or cement of the
type commonly used in the building of model airplanes,
boats and automobiles, containing toluene, acetone ,
or other solvent or chemical having the property of
releasing toxic vapors.
(b) It shall be unlawful to intentionally smell
or inhale the fumes from any glue, cement or other
adhesive containing one or more of the following chemical
compounds, to-wit: acetone, toluene, or as otherwise
hereinabove defined in �ectionCa� ,or in addition thereto,
any chemical compound such as benzene, butyl alcohol, ethyl
� alcohol, methyl alcohol, methyl ethyl ketone, petroleum
ether, dichloride, or pentachlorophenol, for the purpose
of causing a conditinn of intoxication, euphoria, excitement,
exhilaration, stupefaction, or dulling of the senses or
nervous system; provided, however, that this section
shall not be construed as applying to the ini�alation
of any anesthesia for medical or dental .purposes as adminis-
tered by a duly licensed doctor of inedicine, or dentist,
or administered under his supervision, or upon prescription
duly authorized by such licensed professional person.
(c) No person shall , for the purpose of violating
or aiding another to violate any provision of this
Ordinance intentionally possess, buy, sell, transfer
possession, or receive possession of any such glue.
SECTION II : Any person violating any provision of this
Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a mi�sdeamor and upon conviction �
� thereof, shall be fined in an amount not to exceed $500 . 00 , or be
imprisoned in the City Jail for a period not exceeding ninety (90)
days or be both so fined and imprisoned. Each day such violation is
committed, or permitted to continue, shall constitute a separate
offenSe, and shall be punishable as such hereunder.

SECTION III : This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, approval and legal publication.
