AN ORDTNA.NGE 0�' THE CITY 0�' RE.N.TON, WA.SKINGTON,
ESTABLISHING. THE OF�'ICE (3F BUILDING DIRE.CTOR,
PRO�TIDING FQR TH� APP4INTMENT. THEREOF, PRESCRIBING
THE DUTIES OF THE BUILDING� DIRECTOR AND THE
BUILDING DEPARTMENT AND REPEALING ANY AND ALL
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH i

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF RENTQN, WASHIN�T4N, AS .FO.LLOWS :
�EC'T2ON 'I : The.re is .hereby creat.e.d and .es�ablished the �
position of Building Di�ectar who sha11 be appointed by fihe Mayor
wi�h the .cansexit of the City G.ouncil and who shall hold of�ice for
his respec�ive term ar un�i1 such time as he m.ay be rernoved by the
Mayor and Ci�y Council.
There is further. hereby established a Y'Building Departmeri�"
whi:ch shall be under the jurisdiction of the Building Director. The
Building Director to. be ap�ointed as here�nabove set farth shall
be a per�on qualified by �raining and praetical experience in general
building construction, supervision and code eriforcemerit.
Wheriever the term 'fBuilding Official" is referred to in
any Re.so:lu.tions , Ordinances and City Co�es, such term shall apply to
�he "Building Direetoz�f' a� herein defined or his duly authorized
rep.resen�a-�ive.
SE'CT.I'ON 'II : The :duties. of the Buildi.ng Di�ector shall
include the eriforceinent and supe.rvision of all Ordinances and Codes
rela�in� to buildings , canst�ruction and mai.n�enance and the inspectian
of all buildings and/or s�ructures being erected or altered, as
freq;ueritly as may be necessary .to insure compliance wi�h a1I applicable �
City Ordinances . In additian to the foregoing the Building Director I
andlar his authorized represeritative shall have such addztional
duties and respons.ibili-�ies as may be assigned ta him by the Mayor
and -�he Ci-ty Council from time to time .

It shall .further be the duty of the .Building Director
and his Department to establish and maintain proper liaison
and methods of coo�eration with the other Departments of the
City, especially the Planning and Engineer Departments so as I
to provide for a �roper. coordination of public and other
projects and im�ro.vements .
SE"CTION 'III : Chapter 1 of Title III (Departments) of
Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the
City flf Renton" is hereby repealed, together with any and all
other Ordinances or parts of Ordinances iri conflict herewith.
This Ordinance may be designated as Chapter 30 of
Title I (.Administrative) of Ordinance No. 1628 erititled "Code
of Gerieral Ordinances of the City. of Reriton" .
`SE�C'TI'ON 'IV: This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and af.ter its passage , approval and .legal publication.
