ORDINANCE NO. ��/��
AN .ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REN.TON, WASHINGTON,
• CREATING AND ESTABLISHING A SPECIAL FUND TO BE
KNOWN AS THE "CUMULATIVE RESERVE .FUND. FOR MUNICIPAL
ART AND PURPOSES RELATED THERETO" .
BE .IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF REN.TON, WASHINGTON,. AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : Tl�e is he.reby established and created a special
fund to be known as the "Cumulati.ve .Reser.ve Fund for Municipal Art and
Purposes Related th.er.eto" and there _shall be paid into said fund from time
to time amounts as may be determined by. the City Council. Said Fund is
hereby created for. the .general and specific purposes. of purchasing,
acquiring, trading, and �accepting. various works of art, including designs
and models for the .beautification, improvement and better.ment of the City
of Renton. The term "work .of art" for the purposes of thls Ordinance
shall include but not be limited to paintings , mural decorati.ons , stained
glass, statues , bas-reliefs , sculp:tures, monuments , fountains , and other
a
structures of/permanent or temporary character intended for beautification�
ornaments or commemorati.on.
SECTION II : An appropriation for said Cumulati.ve .Reser.ve Fund
may be included annually in the City' s Budget and the monies in said fund
may be allowed. to accumulate fro�n year :to year until the City Council shall
determine to eXpend the monies in the, fund for any or all of. the afore-

meritioned general or specified purposes .
SECTION :III: Al 1 monies in said"CUMULATIVE RESE:RVE FUND FOR
MUNI.CIPAL ART AND PURP.OSES RELATED THERETOt1 may, on order of the City. Council,
be inves.ted in proper securities in the manner pr.ovided by law, and all
interest thereon shall be.come a part of and accrued to the .benefit of said
Fund. �
SECTION :IV: The monies in said fund shall be expended solely for
the .purposes hereinabove sp.ecified and no monies. in said fund shall be
expended for any .other purpose or purposes other than those specified

hereinabove with.o_ut an approving. vote by the major.ity. of the electors of the

City of Renton as prov.ided by law. Any monies in said fund at the end of any
i
, fiscal year shall not lapse , nor shall the same .be a sur.plus available or
which may be used. for any othe.r purpose or purposes. than those specified
� hereinabove.
SECTION V : Prior to the purchase, acquisition or placement of
any "work of art" as herein defined within the City of Renton, the "Renton
Municipal Art Commission" shall timely make its recommendation to the City �
Council therefor, and as further provided in Resolution No.. f��p passed
and ap�roved on August �, 1965 .
SEC'I'ION VI : This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage , approval and legal publication.
