I/ . � , l . , 0����3� ORDINANCE NO. �`�/ � 3� � D 1 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON ESTABLISHING AND CREATING A "BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS" ; PROVIDING FOR THE MEMBERSHIP OF SAID BOARD, DEFINING ITS JURISDICTION, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. There is hereby created and established a Board of Public Works. Said Board shall consist of the City Engi- neer, Traffic Engineering Director, Director of Utilities, Street Commissioner, Building Director, Planning Director, and a represen- tative of the Mayor' s office. Other City departments may partici- pate in the proceedings of the Board as ex-officio, non-voting members. SECTION II. The Board of Public Works shall have such specific and general duties as may be assigned to it by the Ordi- nances of the City of Renton from time to time, together with such other duties as the Mayor and the City Council may establish here- after, and such duties shall include, without limiting the foregoing, the following: A. To review and make recommendations to the Mayor, City Council, and various departments of the City from time to time, re- lating to all contracts, franchises, easements affecting public property, including reports and recommendations to the appropriate committee of legislative body. B. To review and make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council and its appropriate committees relating to the ac- quisition of property, street, water, sewer, drainage or other rights-of-way, or the sale or release of same by means of sales or vacations. C. To review and make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council and its appropriate committees relating to annexation of land to the City or to special districts adjacent to the City boundaries. � � `.f, �, . . t . . . � . . . ,� � , �t r -2- D. To review and make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council and its legislative committees pertaining to capital improvement programming and construction thereof, together with its recommendations of public works projects and the means and sources of financing thereof. E. To periodically review and make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council as well as its legislative committees relating to ordinances, resolutions, and procedures relating to public works management, supervision of buildings, structures, streets, utilities, properties and equipment. F. To consider and grant "variances" under the terms and provisions of City of Renton Ordinance No. 2432 relating to underground wiring and all matters incidental thereto. G. To consider and issue variances and waivers under the terms and provisions of City of Renton Ordinance No. 2295 re- lating to Section 302a of Chapter 3 (Permits and Inspections) of the City of Renton Uniform Building Code, and as same may be amended from time to time. H. To perform the duties imposed by Ordinance No.��C� entitled "City of Renton Dangerous Building Code" . The Board of Public Works shall. further establish such rules and regulations, in writing, deemed necessary to carry out the fore- ' going duties and responsibilities; and said Board may elect from its members a chairman, secretary, and other such officers as may be deemed necessary. SECTION III. The Board of Public Works, or a member designated by it, shall, whenever so requested by the City Council or any of its legislative committees, provide and furnish any and all information, data and recommendations relating to any of the matters and public works projects specified hereinabove so as to provide for continuous and effective operation between the Board and legislative body. • SECTION IV. Any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed, including Chapter 6 , Title II of Ordinance No. 1628. r � • • • � • • . . � , .a I l '. ^ � � -3- SECTION V.
