AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING
SECTION 1-801 OF. TITI;E.:I _(ADMINISTRATIVE) 0 F ORDINANCE
N0. 1628 ENT.ITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF RENTON" RELATING TO HOLIDAYS I
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : Section 1-801 of Title I ( Administrative) of
Ordinance No. 1628 enti.tled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of
Renton" is hereby amended to read as follows :
Section 1-801, as amended: ESTABLISHING LEGAL HOLIDAYS .

It is hereby declared the policy of the City of Renton that
the following be established and recognized as legal holidays
in each year for the employees of the City, without loss of
p ay:
January lst Memorial Day October 12th
February 12th July 4th November llth
� February 22nd Labor Day December 25th
together with. a day on which any general election is held
throughout theState ; and any day designated by public proclama-
, tion of the Chief Executive of the State as a legal holiday,
or as a day of Thanksgiving.
Whenever any legal holiday, other than Sunday, falls
upon a Sunday, _ the following Monday shall be deemed the legal
' likewi e when.any such holiday falls upon a gaturday, the
,r�precee�ing Friday shall be d�emed a legal holiday.

he shall be allowed a substitute day off work, or in the
alternative , with prior approval of the department head,
shall receive .overtime pay for such holiday worked; provided
howev�r, that one-half of the City erriployees shall have, as
a holiday, the day after Thanksgiving and the other half
of such City employees shall have , as a holiday, either the
day before or the day following Christmas Day.
�€G'��BPd-�I : - This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage , approval and legal publication.
