AMENDING SECTION 3-231 0� TITLE III. CDEPARTM,ENTS)
OF ORDINAN�E N0. 1628 ENTITLED "CODE 0�' GENERAL
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON`° RELATING TO
WATER RATES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RENTON, WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I: Existing Section 3-231 of Title III (Departments) of
Ordinance No. 1628 entitled `�Code of General Ordinances of the City of I
Renton" is hereby amended to read as follows :
Section 3-231 as amended: CHARGES FOR UNMETERED WATER
SERVICE : Flat rate charges for unmetered �aater service within the
City are hereby fixed at the sum of three dollars ($3 . 00) per month
for a three-fourths inch (3/4" ) connection.
The minimum rates for metered water supplied within the City in
one (1) month or fractional period thereof, are hereby fixed as specified
in the following schedule :

The next 2 ,000 cubic feet in excess of 900 cu. ft. $0 . 24 per 100 cu. ft.
The next 50 ,000 cu. ft. in excess of 2 ,900 cu. ft. $0 . 18 per 100 cu. ft.
Over 52 ,900 cu. ft. and up to 102 ,900 cu. ft. $0 . 12 per 100 cu. ft.
Over 102 ,900 cu. ft. $0 . 11 per 100 cu. ft.
Provided, however, that water used with high seasonal demand as determined
by the ratio of quantity used in July-August to quantity used in. February-
March exceeding ratio 3 to 1 shall not be entitled to the $0 . 11 rate.
Every single person, sixty-five (65) years of age or older, and every
single person totally and permanently disabled, residing -in a single
family dwelling, either as owner or purchaser, �hose income from all
sources is three hundred dollars ($300 . 00 ) per month or less and three
thousand six hundred dollars ($3 ,600 . 00) per annum or less , or in case
of a marital community both parties , husband and wife , residing in a
single family dwelling, either as owner or purchaser, and both spouses
being sixty-five (65) years of age or older, whose income from all

sources is four hundred dollars ($400 . 00 per month or less , and
four thousand eight hundred dollars ( $4,800 . 00) per annum or less ,
shall pay the following rates for water and sewer services relating
to such single family dwelling in which such eligible person or
persons permanently reside .
$1. 00 per month limited to 900 cubic feet per month; any
excess shall be charged as provided in Section 3-231 of
Title III relating to water rates .
Every such person (if married, then either spouse) shall file with the
Utilities Department of the City, his or her statement, under oath,
, that he, she, or they are qualified to be charged the special rate
for such utility services as hereinabove set forth and such statement to
contain such other information as the Director of Utilities may pre-
scribe including residence address , ownership or interest in dwelling
occupied by such applicant or applicants, the amount, source and nature
of all income from any and all sources, together with the applicant ' s
unqualified promise to forthwith notify the City of any circumstances
or change in condition which would make the applicant or applicants
ineligible to receive said special rates . (Ord. 2562 ,4-20-70)
SECTION II: Any a�id all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION III: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
or� a�rid '_a�'ter�'Apri�==1 , 1971 and after its passage, approval and legal
publication.
