AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHZNGTON,
ADOPTING AND ESTABLISHING BY REFERENCE A "UNIFORM
HOUSING CODE, 1970 EDITION" ; AND RE�EALING ANY
AND ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH.
WHEREAS not less than three printed copies in book form of
the "Uniform Housing Code , 1970 Edition" CUniform Building Code,
Volume III) , as issued by the International Conference of Building
Officials , have heretofore been filed in the office of the City Clerk
of the City of Renton for use and examinati.on by the public, and it
is deemed advisable to adopt said CODE by reference as provided by
law, together with any amendments , additions or modifications thereto ,
when printed and filed with the City Clerk from time to time ;
NOW THEREFORE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : A. The "Uniform Housing Code, 1970 Edition"
(Uni�arm Building Code , Volume III) issued by the International
Conference of Building Offic�a=l�s ;� o, of which not less than three printed '�
copies in book form have heretofore been filed in the office o.� the
City Clerk and made available for examination by the public is hereby
adopted as the "Uniform Housing Code , 1970 Edition9` for the City of
Renton, which Code may hereafter be designated as "Ci,ty of Renton
Housing Code , 1970 Edition" , EXCEPT HOWEVER, that Chapters 11, 12 , 13 ,
14 , 15 and 16 consisting of Pages 20 through 33 , inclusive , are
hereby deleted and excluded from said Housing Code.
Any and all amendments , additions or modifications thereto
when printed and filed with the City Clerk of the City of Renton by
authorization of the City Council from time to time shall be considered I
and accepted and constitute a part of such Code without the necessity
of further adoption of such amendments , modifications or additions by
the legislative authority of the City of Renton or by Ordinance.
�-_ .. SECTION II : Section H-202 0� the aforespeci.fied '�City of
Renton Housing Code , 1970 Edition" is hereby amended to read as
follows :
Section H-202 as amended :
All buildings or portions thereof �hich are determined I
by the Building Official to be substandard as defined
in this Code are hereby declared to be public nuisances

� and shall be abated by repair, rehabilitation,
demaliti.on or removal in accardance wi�h the procedures �
speci�ied in Cha�ter 21 , Title IV , Cade of General
Ordinances , which Chapter 21 is ather�rise known as -�he
City of Ren�on Dangeraus Building Code. I

SECTION III : Thia Ordinance shall not be constru.ed ta
relieve from or lessen the responsibility of any person owning, �
building, alterin.g, constructing or moving any building or s-�ruc�ure I
i as defined in �he aforesaid Code ; nar shall the City of Renton or any II
, agent thereof be held as assuming such liability by reason o� �
' inspection authorized herein or a Certifica�e o� Inspection issued
I� by the City ar any of its agencies. I
� SECTION IV : By the reference �hereta made hereinabave , Ij

' said "Uni�o�m Housing Code, 1970 Edition" , �agether with any and all
amendments , modi�`ica�ians or additions thereto hereafter.�printed and �
filed with the c�ty Clerk as hereinabave speca.fa.ed, are incorparated
in and made a part o� this Ordinance as fully and with the same effect
as if set out herei.n in �ull , ar as i� adop�ed by subsequent Ordinance�
' amendatory hereo�.
' SECTION v : Whenever the term "Administrative Authori�y"
I�� is used in thi.s Code it shall be canstrued to mean the Building Director
io� the City o� Ren�on, or hi� duly au�horized representative or agent. ,
One capy of said Code sha11 be duly authenticated and
recorded by -the Ci-�y Clerk along with the adopting Ordinance. I
SECTION VI : Chapter 9 of Title IV CBuilding Regul.a�ions) of
' Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Cade of �eneral Ordinances of the Ci-ty of
Renton" , tagether with any and all other ordinances or par�s of
ordinances inc.conflict herewith are hereby re�aealed.
SECTIQN VII . This Ordi.nance shall be e,f�fecti.ve u.pon itS
passage , appraval and �ive days a�'ter i�s publica-�ion, unless othe�wise
provided �or hereinabove.
