AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENT�N, WASHINGTON, A�OI�TING
AND ESTABLISHING BY REFERENCE A "UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE"
(UNIF'ORM BUILDING CODE VOLUME II) 1970 EDITI'ON
WHEREAS not less than three printed copies in book form of the ',
"Uniform Mechanical Code" (Uniform Building Code Volume II) 1�70
Edition, as issued by the International Association of Plumbing and
. Mechanical Officals and the International Conference of Building
Officials , have heretotore been filed in the office of the City Clerk
of the City of Renton for use and examination by the public , and it is
deemed advisable to adopt said Code by reference as provided by law,
together with any amendments , additions or modifications thereto ,
when printed and filed with the City Clerk from time to time ; NOW
THEREFORE
THE CITY COUNC.IL OF THE CITY OF RENTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : The "Uniform Mechanical Code" (Uniform Bu�7.rling
Code Volume II) 1970 Edition as issued by the International Association
of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials and Inte.rna-tional Conference of
Bui.lding Offici.als , of which not less than three copies in printed
form have heretofore been filed in the office of the City Clerk and
made available for examination by the public, is hereby adopted as
the "Uniform Mechanical Code" (Uniform Building Code Volume II) 1970
Edition for the City of Renton,which Code may hereafter be designated
as "City of Renton Uniform Mechanical Code , 1970 Edition" ; and any
and all amendments , additi.ons or modifications thereto when printed
and filed with the City Clerk of the City of Renton by authorization
of the City Coun.cil from time to time shall be considered and accepted
and constitute a part of such Code without the necessity of further.
adoption of such amendments , modi.fications or ad�tions by the
legislative authority of the City of Renton or by Ordinance.

SECTIQN- �I#: By the reference thereto made hereinabove, I
said '�Uniform Mechanical Code, 1970 Edition" together with any and all I
amendments , madifications or additions there�o hereafter printed �
and filed with the Ci-�y Clerk as hereinabove s�ecified, are incarpora-ted
in and made a pas�� af thi� Ordinance as fu11y and with the same effect
as if set out herein in full, or as if adopted by subseguent Ordinances
amendatory hereof.
SECTION III: This Ordinance shall not be construed to relieve
from or lessen the responsibility of any person owning, buildi.ng,
altering, constructing or moving any i�uildi.ng or structure as defined
in the aforesaid Code; nor �hall -the Ci-ty of Renton or any agen� '�
I �hereof be held as assumin,g such liabili-�y by reason o� inspection I
au�harized herei.n ar a Certi.ficate of Inspec-�ion issued by the Ci�y or
an� of its agencies. �
SECTION IV ; Whenever the term 'TAdmin:istra-tive Authority"
is used in this Code it sha1.I be construed to mean the Bui.ldin.g Direc�or
of the City of Renton, or his duly au-tharized representative ar agent.
4ne cop�r of said Code �hall be duly authenticated and recorded
by the City Clerk along with the adop-ting Ordinance,
SECTION V: Ghap�er 17 of Title IV (Buil.ding Regulati.ons) of �
Ordinance No. 1628 , and any and all other ordinances or par-�s of �
ordinanees in confli.ct herewith are hereby regealed.
SECTTONVI: Thi� Ordinance shall be effective upon i,ts
pa�sag�, approval and five clays after its publication, unless o-�herwi�e
provided for hereinabove.
