ORDINANCE N0. �+� l �
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY. OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, �
DECLARING THAT AN EMERGENCY EXISTS AND APPROPRIATING
MONIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPLEMENTING A NEW FORM OF
GOVERNMENT AND PROVIDING FUNDS FOR THE RECRUITMENT '
OF PERSONNEL.
WHEREAS the City of Renton has heretofore established a ne�
form of government , to-wit , a change from a City of the Second Class �
to the status of a Non-Charter Code City under the provisions of the I
Optional Municipal Code , as amended, and
WHEREAS the City has heretofore enacted certain ordinances �
preparirig=�for, establishing and implementing said neT,�r form of govern- I
ment, including but not limiting it to new and additional qualifications<;
for certain appointive personnel , and
WHEREAS the Civil Service Commission has heretofore requested
the Mayor and City Council to provide certain funds incident to
. selection �o;� a new Chief of Police pursuant to the rules and regulations
of the Civil Service System, and
WHEREAS it is necessary for the proper administration, operation
and maintenance of the City to appropriate funds for the purpose of
conducting competitive examinations for the �osition of Police .Chief,
Civil Service , and to pay the expenses of candidates for said position
in connection with such examinations , NOW THEREFORE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I: The aforestated" recitals and facts are hereby found
and determined by the City Council of the City of Renton .to be true
and existing and by reason thereof the Council hereby declares that an
emergericy exists , pursuant to. RCW 35 . 33. 081 , which could not have been
reasonably foreseen at the time of the adoption of the 1972 Budget.

SECTION II : That there be and/hereby allowed and established
the following sums for expenditure in the following classification
and said sums are appropriated as herein set forth, to-wit :
UNTO : Current Fund, Civil Service Acct. 003/513 .20. 33 .01

SE"CTION III: This Ordinance is an emergency ordinance ,
pursuant .to RC�nI 35 . 33.081 , which shall be adopted by the vote of one
more than the majority of all members of the City Council , without
further notice or hearing..
SECTION .IV: This Ordiance shall be effective upon its passage ,
approval and .five days after its publication, unless otherwise provided
for hereinabove.
