HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1317 4 I , i* RESOLUTION NO. /P, WHEREAS the City of Renton, a municipal corporation of the Second Class, has a vital and continuing interest in the various traffic problems within the City and its immediate environs, and WHEREAS a majority of its citizens reside in the Renton Highlands and surrounding areas, and WHEREAS more than 30,000 persons are presently employed in Renton's industrial plants which activities constitute a major` !:source of revenue to the State of Washington and WHEREAS serious and continuing traffic problems have developed and continue to develop throughout the City of Renton and especially along Sunset Blvd. East, also known as State Highway No. 900, and WHEREAS plans have heretofore been consummated for the construction of therso- called North Renton Interchange, which interchange will tie in with said Sunset Blvd. East, also known as State Highway No. 900, and WHEREAS it is absolutely necessary and essential that said State Highway be forthwith improved and widened in order to accommodate the growing vehicular traffic, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I: The above recitals and findings are hereby found to be true and correct in all respects. The City of Renton hereby determines that it is of the utmost necessity to provide for the improvement and widening to four lanes of vehicular traffic of Sunset Blvd. East, also known as State Highway No. 900 between 116th Avenue S.E. and 13Sth Avenue S.E. , all lecatecl within or near the City of Renton, King County, Washington. and any and all of such work to be undertaken by the State of Washington Highway Department and same to proceed with all deliberate speed. SECTION II: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to forward copies of this Resolution to the Washington Good Roads Association requesting said body to go on record in favor of such improvement as herein specified and to forward unto the State of Washington Highway Commission copies of any and all of such actions.
