AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON '�i
PROHIBITING THE DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS , HUNTING
OF GAME , AND PROHIBITING CERTAIN ACTIVITIES ;
PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF
AND REPEALING ANY AND ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT �
THEREWITH, AND AMENDING SECTION 6-155 OF TITLE VI

"CODE OP GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON"
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON , DO ORDAIN

AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : Section 6-155 of Title VI (Police Regulations)
of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the
City of Renton" is hereby amended to read as follows :
Section 6-155 , as amended - DISCHARGING FIREARMS IN THE CITY :
l. It shall be unlawful for any person within the City limits
of the City of Renton to fire off or discharge any gun, pistol or
firearm of any kind without lawful authority; provided , however,
that said prohibitions 'shall not apply to the use of a Starter' s
Pistol not to exceed . 22 caliber in connection with the training and
obedience handling of any dog , or any sports event. Any person wishing
to use such a Starter pistol for dog training purposes shall,�;make
application therefor to the Police Chief of the City of Renton, or his
duly authorized representative , and such applicant shall specify a
ro erl undevelo ed area for the abovementioned use. No fee shall

be charged for such permit by the City. Each such permittee shall
exercise due care so as not to disturb or interfere with the rights
of other property owners . ,
2 . It is hereby declared unlawful for any person to hunt or take
wildlife , including game animals and game birds , by firearms and�or '
other weapon within the City lim.its of Renton.
3 . Any person carrying any firearms or other weapon under circum-
I stances which manifest_ an intent to discharge or which evidence that
such firearm has been discharged, shall be guilty, upon conviction
thereof, of a misdem�anor.
The following circumstances , among others , may be considered in
determining such event , �o���it:
(a) Type of firearm or weapon in custody of person
Cb) Manner in which firearm or weapon is carried
(c) Whether or not such firearm or weapon is capable of discharge
Information concerning the discharge of a firearmjweapon
�d� wlthln the immediately preceding two hour period.
(e) General location of the subject carrying said firearm I

4. Any police officer having reasonable information to support
a belief that a person has cormnitted any violation of this Ordinance shall have
the authority to Question and arrest such person.
SECTION II: Any person violating any provision of this Ordinance shall
be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, be fined in .�a. sum not
exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or be confined in the City Jail for a
period of not more than thirty (30) days or be punished by both such fine and
imprisonznent; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, that any conviction for a first offense sha11
constitute a non-criminal penal.ty and be subject to a fine not exceeding One
Hundred I�1 lars. ($100.00)
SE(,I'ION III: Any and all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict
' herewith are l�eby repealed.
SECTION N: If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or
portion of this Ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by
any court of competent jurisdiction, such portion sha�l�be deemed a separate,
distinct and independent provision and such holding shall not affect the validity

SECTION V: This Ordinance shall be effective upon its passage, approval
and five days after its publication, unless otherwise provided for hereinabove.
