ORDINANCE NO. 2837
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON , WASHINGTON ,
AMENDING SECTIONS 2-601 , & 2-602 and ADDING
SECTION 2-604 of CHAPTER 6 (BOARD OF PUBLIC
WORKS) OF TITLE II (COMMISSIONS AND BOARDS) OF
ORDINANCE NO. 1628 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON"" RELATING TO
THE MEMBERSHIP , bUTIES AND ORGANIZATION OF THE
BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON , WASHINGTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : Section 2-601 of Chapter 6 , Title II ( Commissions
and Boards ) is hereby amended to read as follows :
Section 2-601 as amerided: CREATION: There is hereby
created and established a Board of Public Works . Said Board shall
consist in its membership of the following officials :
1 . Director of Public Works
2 • Di-'r.ee.tor-� =of 'Pa-rks aiid .l�ecreation
3 . Director of Planning
4 . Director of Finance
5 . Airport Director
O.fficials of other City Departments may participate in the proceedings
of said Board as ex-of£icio , non-voting members .
SECT - I�
ION II : Section 2 602 of Chapter 6 , Title II ( Commissions �
' and Boards ) is hereby. amended by eliminating subparagraph ( C ) thereof I
and by adding the following new subparagraphs , to-wit :
Section 2-602 : DUTIES : as amended : ��
(H) To have primary responsibility for preparation and
review of the City ' s annual Capi:tal Improvement Program and as same may
be amended from time to time .
(I) To review all capital improvement projects and submit
recommendations in writing to the appropriate City Department or Board �
prior to prQceeding to any call for bids .
(J) To coordinate with the appropriate standing and any
special committees created by the City Council .

The Board of Public Works shall further establish such rules and
requlations , in writing , deemed necessary to carry out the foregoing
duties and responsibilities ; and said Board may elect from its
members a chairman, secretary and such other officers as may be deemed
necessary.
SECTION III : There is hereby created and established a new Section,
namely, Section 2-604 of Chapter 6 , Title II ( Commissions and Boards )
to read as follows :
Section 2-604 : VOTING : The members of the Board as
designated in Section 2-601 shall be the persons eligible to vote on
all matters coming before the Board; provided , however , that the member ' s �
assistant or deputy as alternate voting delegate , may be designated by
the official member on a meeting-for-meeting basis if the official member
of the Board is unavailable to attend by reason of illness or excused
absence from duties.
SECTION IV: Any and all ordinances or parts of o 'rdinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed .
SECTION V: This ordinance shall be effective upon its passage ,
approval and five days after its publication.
