CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
ORDINANCE N0. 2859
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
AMENDING SECTION 10-105 of TITLE X (TRAFFIC)
OF ORDINANCE N0. 1628 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON" RELATING TO
SPEED REGULATIONS
I THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : Existing Section 10-105 of Title X (Traffic)
of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the
City of Renton" is hereby amended to read as follows :
10-105 AS AMENDED - SPEED REGULATIONS :
:(A) State Speed Laws Applicable : The S,tate Traffic laws
regulating the speed of vehicles shall be applicable upon all streets
within the City , and as may be established , as authorized by State
law, by action of the City's Department of Public Works , acting by
and through its Traffic Engineer, and concurrence thereof by the
City Council , based oxi engineering and traffic investigation. Such
speed regulations shall become effective when issued in writing by
the Department of Public Works , as aforesaid , and concurred by the
City Council ; thereupon the Traffic Engineer shall cause proper
signs to be posted , in conformity with applicable State regulations ,
and thereafter it shall be uniawful for any person to drive a vehicle
at a speed in excess of any speed limit so declared and posted.
(B) Speed Limits : In addition to the provisions of para-
. gra:ph (A) , Section 10-1�Olentitled "Speed Limits" of this Code
shall remain in full force and effect unless modified or amended
as set forth in paragraph (A) hereinabove. ,
, The Department of Public Works , acting by and through
its Traffic Engineer , is hereby authorized to regulate the timing
of traffic signals so as to permit tl�;movement of traffic in an
orderly , efficient and safe manner.

SECTION II : Al1 other ordinances or parts of ordinances in I
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION III : This Ordinance shall be effective i.i�on _its passage ,
approval and five days after its publication.
