SECTI�N I: Existing Section 2-1401 af Title II (Commissions
and Boards) of Ordinance No. 162$ enGitled "Code of Gen�ral Ordinances I

tion an ins�rumen�ality should be establishedt�rough which the citizens

DEFINITIQN: The words'�ciis.er:imin.a�Ce" , "diserimina�es" or �

"discrimina�ion." wherever used in �his Qrdinance are hereby defined
and declared to mean and include discrimination. on the grourxls of race,
color, creed, age, sex, natianal origin, ancestry or physical handicap;
provided, however, that the prohibition aga�_�st discriminatian because
of such physical handicap shall no� apply if the particular disability I

prevents the proper and satisfactory performa.nce of a particular
worker involved.
SECTION II Existing sub-section (A) of Section 2-1006 of
Title II (Commissions and Boards) of Ordinance No . 1628 entitled "Code
of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" is hereby amended to
read as follows :
Section 2-1006 A as amended:

, (A) Any person, group or organization claiming to have been
discriminated against by any other individual , group or organization
by reason of his race , color, creed, age, sex, national origin, ancestry
or physical handicap as hereinabove defined, may make, sign and file
with the Secretary of the Commission a written complaint, under oath,
which shall state the name and address of the person, group or organization
complained against, together with such other information or data as may
reasonably be required by the Commission. The Commission shall prepare
and have available for distribution appropriate complaint forms .
' SECTION III: Existing sub-section (A) of Section 2-1007 of
Title II (Commissions and Boards) of Ordinance No . 1628 entitled "Code
of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" is hereby amended to read
as follows :
Section 2-1007 (A) , as amended:
(A) . The provisions of this Ordinance shall be construed liberally
for the accomplishment of the purposes tnereof. Nothing contained �I
herein shall be deemed to amend, repeal or modify any of the provisions
of any Civil Rights law or any other law of the Federal or STate govern-
ment , or any other provision of this Code relating to discrimination
because of race, color, creed, age, sex, national origin, ancestry or
physical handicap as hereinabove defined. The provision herein provided

shall, while pending, be exclusive, and the final determination therein
shall exclude any other action, civil or criminal, based on the same
grievance of the individual concerned. If such individual institutes
any action based on such grievance, without resorting first to the
procedure provided in this Ordinance, he shall not subsequently resort
to the procedure herein outlined.
SECTION IV: Any and all other Ordinances or parts of Ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
�ECTION V: This Ordinance shall be effective upon its passage ,
approval and five days after its publication, unless otherwise provided
for hereinabove.
