ORDINANCE NO. 2g46
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
AMENDING SECTION 8-309 OF TITLE VIII (HEALTH
AND SANITATION) OF ORDINANCE N0. 1628 ENTITLED
"CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON"
RELATING TO SPECIAL GARBAGE COLLECTION RATES FOR
CERTAIN nUALIFIED SENIOR CITIZENS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : Existing Section 8-309 of Title VIII (Health and
Sanitation) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances
of the City of Renton" be and the same is hereby amended to read
as follows :
Section 8-309 (A) RATE FOR CHARGES is hereby amended by
adding a subsection entitled (4) thereto reading as follows :
8-309 (A) 4 : The above stated rates shall be reduced by the
sum of one dollar ($1. 00) per month to the following qualifying
residents of the City of Renton who reside in residential dwellings ,
or who otherwise occupy rental units and which customarily ch.arge
such collection service to such renters , to-wit :
l . Every single person sixty two (62) years of age or older ,
and every single person substantially and permanently
disabled whose income from al1 sources is three hundred
thirty three dollars and thirty three cents ($333 . 33) per
month or less , and four thousand dollars ($4, 000 . 00) per
annum or less .
2. Every married couple, constituting a marital commun�_ty, ,
and�both spouses being sixty two (62) years of age or
older, or one such spouse being sixty two (62) years of I
age or older and substantially and permanently disabled,
�ahile the other spouse is under age sixty two (62) , and
whose total income from a11 sources is five hundred dollars
($500. 00) per month or less , and six thousand dollars
($6, 000. 00) per annum or less ;
and all of the aforementioned qualifying persons shall pay
the reduced rate (namely, the regular rate above stated
less the sum of $1. 00 per month) .
3. Every such person (if married, then either spouse) shall
file with the Utilities Department of the City , his or her
statement , under oath, that he, she or they are qualified
to be charged the special rate for such garbage collection
services hereinabove stated, and such statement to cantain
such other information as the Utilities Department may
prescribe , including residence address, ownership or interest
in dwelling occupied by such applicant or applicants , or
rental unit , as the case may be, the amount , source a.nd
nature of all income from any and all source� , togeth.er

with the applicant' s unqualified promise to forthwith
notify the City of any circumstances or change in
condition which would make the applicant or applicants
ineligible to receive said special rates .
All of such information shall be treated in confidence
and all such application and statements shall only be
available for inspection by authorized personnel of
the City. The Utilities Department shall have the right ,
whenever deemed necessary, to require such statement on
an annual basis . In case of any dispute as to eligibiiity,
the matter shall be submitted to the City' s Human ,
Resources Coordinator for final disposition. I
SECTION II : This ordinance shall be effective on and after I
August l , 1975 , and after its passa�e , approval and five days after I'
its legal publication.
