ORDINANCE N0. 2974
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
ADOPTING AND ESTABLISHIl�?G BY REFERENCE THE
"FIRE PREVENTION CODE,__1970 EDITION ABBREVIATED"
REPEALING ANY AND ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORD-
INANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH
WHEREAS not less than three ( 3) printed copies in book
form of the "FIRE PREVENTION CODE, 1970 EDITION ABBREVIATED"
as recommended by the American Insurance Association.,. have heretofore
been filed and are now on file in the office of the City Clerk
of the City of Renton for use and examination by the general public,
and
WHEREAS it is deemed advisable and in the public interest
to adopt said Code as hereinabo.ve described, by reference,
NOW THEREFORE ,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON DO ORDAIN AS '
FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : The "FIRE PREVENTION .CODE, 1970 EDITION ,
ABBREVIATED" as recommended by. the American Insurance Association,
of which not .less than three (3) printed copies in book form have
heretofore been filed and are now on file in the office of the
City Clerk and made available for examination by the general .public,
is hereby adopted as the "FIRE PREVENTION CODE, 1970 EDITION
ABBREVIATED" by the City of Renton.

SECTION II: Any and all amendments., additions or mod-
ifications to said Code , .when printed and filed wi.th the City Clerk

of the City. of Renton by authorization of the City Council from
time to time , shall be considered and accepted and constitute
a part of such Code without the necessity of' further adoption
of such amendments, modifications or additions by the legislative
authority of the City of Renton or by Ordinance.
SEC.TION III: The City Clerk is hereby authorized
and directed to duly authenticate and record a copy of the above-
mentioned Code, together with any amendments or additions thereto,
together with an authentic.ated copy of this Ordinance.
SECTION IV: This Ordinance shall not be construed
, to relieve from or lessen the responsibility of any person owning,
building, altering, constr.ucting or moving any building or str.ucture
or engaging in any such construction as defined in the aforementioned
Code; nor shall the City of Renton or any agent thereof be held
as assuming such liability by reason of inspection authorized
herein or a Certificate of Inspection issued by the City or any
of its agencies.
, SECTION V: If an art or rovision of said Code

' be in conflict with any other Code heretofore or hereafter adopted
by the City of Renton, then in any such event,. the more restrictive
provision shall be applicable and contro.l.
SECTION VI :; Any and all Ordinance.s or parts of 4rdinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed, unless otherwise provided I
in Section V hereinabove. :
SECTION VI� This Ordinance shall .be effective upon
its passage and five days after its publ.ica.tion. ',
