ORDINANCE N0. 29�5 '
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
ADOPTING AND ESTABLISHING BY REFERENCE THE
"NATIONAL BUILDING CODE, 1967 EDITION" ; REPEALING
ANY AND ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH
W�IEREAS not less than three ( 3) printed copies in book
form of the "NATIONAL BUILDING CODE , 1967 EDITION" as recommended
by the American Insurance Association, successor to the National
Board of Fire Underwriters : .,� have heretofore been filed and are
now on file in the office of the City Clerk .of the City of Renton
for use and examination by the general public, and
WHEREAS it is .deemed advisable and in the public interest
to adopt said Code as hereinabove described, by reference,
NOW THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS :
SECTION I: The "NATIONAL BUILDING CODE , 1967 EDITION"
as reco�runended�;i�y�. the :�Amer.�can Insurance Association, successor to '
' the National Board of Fire Underwriters , of which not less than
three ( 3) printed copies in book form have heretofore been filed
and are now on file in the office of the City _Clerk and made available i
for examination by the general public, is hereby adopted as the
"NATIONAL BUILDING CODE, 1967 EDITION" by the City of Renton.
SECTION II : Any and all amendments , additions or modi-
fications to said Code, when printed and filed with the City Clerk
of the City of Renton by authorization of the City Council from
time to time , shall be considered and accepte.d and constitute a
part of such Code without the necessity of further adoption of
such amendments, modifications or additions by. the legislative
� authority of the City of Renton or by Ordinance.

SECTION� I�II: The City Clerk is hereby authorized and
directed to duly authentic.ate and record a copy of the abovementioned
Codetogether with any amendments or additions thereto, together
with an authenticated copy of this Ordinance.
SECT�ION IV: This Ordinance shall not be construed to
relieve from or lessen the responsibility of any person owning ,
building, altering, constructing or moving any building or structure
or engaging in any such construction as defined in the aforementioned
Code; nor shall the City of Renton or any agent thereof be he.ld
as assuming such liability by reason of inspection authorized herein
or a Certificate of Inspection issued by the City or any of its
agencies.
SECT;ION �V : - If any part or provision of said Code be
in conflict with any other Code heretofore or hereafter adopted
by the City of Renton, then in any such event,. the more restrictive
provision shall be applicable and control.
SECTION; VI :, Any and all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed, unless otherwise provided
in Section V hereinabove..
SECTION VTI : This Ordinance shall :be effective upon
its passage and five days after its publication.
