ORDINANCE N0. 3237
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WA.SHINGTON, �
AMENDING SECTION 8-309 OF TITLE VIII (HEALTH
AND SANITATION) OF ORDINANCE N0 . 1628 ENTITLED
� "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON"
RELATING TO SPECIAL GARBAGE COLLECTION RATES FOR
CERTAIN QUALIFIED SENIOR CITIZENS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS : -
SECTION I: Existing Section 8-309 of Title VIII (Health
and Sanitalion) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General
Ordinances of the City of Renton" be and the same is hereby amended
to read as follows :
Section 8-309 (A) 4 . , as .amended': " 'The':above s�ated �
.rates shall be reduced by the sum of one dollar ($1. 00) per month
i " to the following qual'ifying residents of the City of Renton who

reside in res�dentlal dwellings , �or who otherwise occupy rental units
and which customarily charge such col'lection service to such renters ,

l. Every single person, sixty-two ( 62) years of
age or older, and every single person substantially
and permanently disabled residing in a single family
dwelling, either as owner or purchaser, whose .
income from all sources is Four Hundred Dollars
($400. 00) per month, or less and Four Thousand Eight
Hundred Dollars ($4 , 800. 00) � per annum or less . This
maximum figure shall increase whenever there is an
• increase in Social Security benefits in an amount �
propa� tionate to the increase in the Social Security
benefits .
2 . Every married couple, constituting a marital
commu.nity, residirig in a single family dwelling , �
either as owner or purchaser, and both spouses being
sixty-two ( 62) years of age or older and substantially j
and permanently disabled, while the other spouse is '
under the age sixty two ( 62) , and whose total income
from all sources is Six Hundred dollars. (�$600: 00) per
month or less , and Seven Thousand Two Hundred Dollars
($7, 200. 00) per annum or less. This maximtim figure
! sfiall increase whenever there is an increase in
� Social Security benefits in an amount proportionate to
1� �e increase in the Social Security benefits .

� 3. Every such person (if married, then either
spouse) shall file with the Utilities Department
of the City, his or her s-tatemen�, under oath, that
he, she or they are qualified to be charged the
special rate for such garbage collection services
herinabove stated, and such statement to contain
such other information as the Utilities Department
may prescribe, including residence address, ownership or
interest in dwelling occupied by such applicant or
applicants , or rental unit, as the case may be, �he
amount, source and nature of all income from any
and all sources , together with the applicant' s
unqualified promise to forthwith notify the City of
I any circumstances or change in condition which
would make the applicant or applicants ineligible to
receive said special rates.
All of such information shall be treated in confidence
and all such applications and statements shall only be
available for inspection by authorized personnel of
the City. The Utilities Department shall have the
right, whenever deemed necessary, to require such
statement on an annual basis.
SECTION II : This rate shall be effective for the September
1978 biiling period. This Ordinance shall be effective from and after
its passage, approval and five days after its legal publication.
