ORDINANCE N0. 3238
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY. OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
AMENDING SECTION 3-231 (B) OF TITLE III (DEPARTMENTS)
OF ORDINANCE N0. 1628 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON" RELATING TO
SPECIAL WY�TER RATES FOR QUALIFIED SENIQR CITIZENS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REN.TON, WASHINGTON
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I: Existing Section 3-231 (B) of Title III
(Departments) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General
Ordinances of the City of Renton" is hereby amended to read
as follows :
Section 3-231(B) , as amended:
The following xates are hereby established for
certain qualified senior citizens who are economically
disadvantaged as her.ei.n set forth:
l. Every single person, sixty-two ( 62) years of
age or older, and every single person su.bstantially
and perme.ntly disabled residing in a single family
dwelling, either as owner or purchaser, whose
income from all sources is Four Hundred Dollars
C$400. 00) per month, or less and Four Thousand
Eight Hundred Dollars ($4, 800 . 00) per annum or
less . This maximum figure shall increase whenever
there is an increase in Social Security benefits
in an amount proportiQnate to the increase in the
Social Security benefits .
, 2 . Every married couple , constituting a marital
community, residing in a single family dwellzng,
either as owner or purchaser, and both spouses being
sixty-two ( 62) years of age or older or . one such
spouse being sixty two ( 62) years of age or older
and substantially and permanently disabled, while
the other spouse is under age sixty two (62) , and
whose total income from all sources is Six Hundred
dollars ($600., 00) per month or less , and Seven
Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ( $7 , 200 . 00) per annum
or less. This maximum figure shall increase wher�er
there is an increase in Social Security benefits in
an amount proportionate to the increase in the Social
Security benefits .
and all of the aforementioned qualifying persons shall ,
pay the following rates for water and sewer services
relating to such single family dwelling in r�ch such

eligible person or persons permanently reside , to-wit :
One dollar ( $1. 00) per month limited to nine hundred
C900) cubic feet of water per month; including the
monthly rate. for sewage disposal service for a single
family dwelling unit :

Any excess shall be charged as provided for in
5ection 3-231 (A) of Title III relating to wa�ter
rates.
SECTION II: This ordinance shall be effective on
and after its passage, approval and five days after its
publication.
