AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, ESTABLISHING A NEW FUND TO BE KNOWN AS THE "CITY OF RENTON'S ARTERIAL STREET FUND" PROVIDING FOR ALLOCATIONS TO AND DISBURSEMENTS FROM SAID FUND AND ESTABLISHING THE PURPOSE THEREFOR. WHEREAS Chapter 195 of the Session Lasts of 1961 provided for the legislative body of each city to prepare and adopt, pursuant to one or more public hearings, a comprehensive street program for the ensuing six years, and such program to be filed with the Director of Highways and the City to review such work biannually thereafter and 14HEREAS Chapter 7 of the 1961 Extraordinary Session Laws provides for the distribution unto cities and towns of certain revenues from the State gasoline tax, to -wit one-half cent (2(,,) to be so distributed to each city on a per capita basis, and all such funds so received by the city from time to time to be used exclusively for the construction, improvement and repair of arterial highways as so specially designated by the city and the city to match such revenues received from the State on a twenty-five percent (25%) basis, and all such funds to be placed into a separate fund to be known as the "City of Renton Arterial Street Fund", NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I: There is hereby established a new fund and account to be designated as "City of Renton Arterial Street Fund" into which said fund all monies received from the gate of Washington as the City's share of the State gasoline tax shall be paid togdher with the City's matching funds. Said matching funds may be obtained by the City's regular City Street Fund approp- riation for arterial streets or general obligation bond funds for the purpose of constructing, improving and repairing arterial streets or Local Improvement District funds for arterial street purposes. Likewise all expenditures in connection with the approved street arterial projects shall likewise be made from said Fund. SECTION II: No funds or contributions made by the State of Washington from the State gasoline tax and paid to the City of Renton shall be expended - 1 - for the construction, improvement and repair of arterial highways as so designated by the City unless the required matching funds and monies have been provided for by the City as required by law. SECTION III: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 27th day of June, 1961.
