AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION XII OF ORDINANCE NO. 2041 REIA:TING TO AND REGULATING MOTOR VEHICLES, TRAFFIC, TRAVEL, AND TRANSPORTATION AND THEIR INCIDENTS UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS, BICYCLE PATHS, AND OTHER WAYS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC; PRESCRIBING THE Pat ERS AND DUTIES OF OFFIC:�RS AMID OTHERS IN RELATION THERETO: DEFINING OFFENSES; PROVIDING PENALTIES, AND REPEALING THE CITYI S TRAFFIC CODE KNOWN AS CHAPTER I OF TITLE X (TRAFFIC), EXCEPT SECTION 10-1-207 RE SPEED LIMITS THEREOF, OF ORDINANCE N0. 1625, KNOtidN AS t1CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON11 AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES AND SECTIONS DF ORDIN- ANCES INSOFAR AS SAME ARE IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. 0a -:2o`f/ BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I: SECTION XII - Authorized emergency vehicles, Sub -section (c),SEC.XII, of Ordinance No. 2011 heretofore adopted and approved under date of June 24, 1963, is hereby amended to read as follows: Sub -section (c), SECTION XII: Authorized emergency vehicles% as amended. (c) The exemptions herein granted to an authorized emergency vehicle shall apply only when the driver of any said vehicle while in motion sounds audible signal by bell, siren, or exhaust whistle as may be reasonably necessary, and when the vehicle is equipped with at least one lighted lamp displaying a red light visible under normal atmospheric conditions from a. distance of 500 feet to the front of such vehicle, except that an authorized emergency vehicle operated as a police vehicle need not be equipped with or display a red light visible from in front of the vehicle; PROVIDED FURTHER that ambulances shall not exceed the posted speed limit by more than five miles per hour and shall not proceed through stop signs or red traffic signal lights without first making a full stop and permitting 1;raffic to clear the intersection. U The following vehicles while on emergency calls shall in the order named have the right-of-way over all other traffic: Vehicles and apparatus of the Fire Department,, Vehicles of the Police Department, Sheriffts Office, Washington State Patrol, Vehicles of the Coroner and Prosecuting Attorney Ambulances, and other authorized emergency vehicles. SECTION II: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and legal publication. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 22nd day of July, 1963.
