HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 2052FOLLOWS: ORIGINAL i 1 ' ORDINANCE NO. ids�— AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION 4-103 OF CHAPTER I (BUILDING CODE) OF TITLE TV (BUILDING REGULATIONS) OF ORDINANCE NO. 1628 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON" RELATING TO CONCRETE MIXING BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON AS SECTION I: Section 4-103 of Chapter I of Building Code of Title IV (Building Regulations) is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 4-103, as amended: Section 2608 (a), Chapter 26 of the Building Code relating to concrete mixing shall hereafter read as follows: Concrete shall be thoroughly mixed in an approved batch mixer so designed and maintained as to positively insure uniform distribution of the materials throughout the mass. The mixing plant shall have positive means of measuring accurately each batch of water, cement and aggregates as elsewhere herein specified; all scales, water gauges or other measuring devices, shall be so located that the entire proportioning and mixing operation may be readily observed by an inspector. Mixing in a mixer with worn out or broken blades or otherwise defective equipment shall not be permitted. The Superintendent of Buildings of the City of Renton or such other City or official designated by the City Engineer shall require the owner/operator of any mixing plant, prior to any approval by the City of its mixing operation, to submit to the City upon its request, the results, tests, findings and analysis of any duly established laboratory of the operation and quality of mix of such plant and/or transit mixers. Such report by a testing laboratory shall be in writing. After the ingredients are in the mixer,each batch shall be rotated for at least one minute before discharging. The entire batch shall be discharged before recharging. The volume of the mixed material per batch shall not exceed the manufacturer's rated capacity of the mixer. Machine mixers shall have a peripheral speed of approximately two hundred feet (200') per minute. Ready Mixed concrete shall be mixed and delivered in accordance with the requirements set forth in U.B.C. Standard No. 26-11. shall SECTION II: All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith/be and the same are hereby repealed. SECTION III: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from_and`after its passage, approval and legal publication. -.
