HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 2097bRlGIN!/, .' { ORDINANCE NO. d AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING CHAPTER 6 OF TITLE I (ADMINISTRATIVE) OF ORDINANCE NO. 1628 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON" RELATING TO COMMITTEES OF THE CITY COUNCIL. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I: Existing Section 1-601 of Chapter 6 of Title I (Administrative) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" is hereby amended to read as follows: 1--601: COMMITTEES APPOINTED The following designated Committees shall be appoint- ed by the Mayor and serve during the term of office of the Councilmen so appointed there- on and the first Councilman so appointed shall be the Chairman thereof, to -wit: Ways and Means Committee, three (3) members; Planning Committee, three (3) members; Law and Ordinance Committee, three (3) members; Fire and Water Committee, three (3) members; Street and Alley Committee,. three (3) members; Police and License Committee, three (3) members; City Property Committee, three (3) members; Auditing and Accounting Committee, three (3) members; Sanitation Committee, thr.ee.(3) members; Public Relations Committee, three (3) members; Legislation Committee,,three (3) members; Light'_and Power Committee:, three (3) members; SECTION II:..:Section 1--6.06 sof Chapter 6', Title I (Administrative) relating to "Committee.on Finance sand Claims!, is hereby -.deleted in its entirety.. SECTION III :: , Section '1-612 .of Chapter. ,6, . Title I.. (Administrative) •, is herebyr; amended., to, read. as follows: 1-612,.as amended - AUDITING AND ACCOUNTING COMMITTEE This Committee shall have supervision of _all. claims presented. to, the Council -for 'all.owance� and, all accounts: .-- of officers, and shall audit all'. bills -referred to it, and further � shall ,:audit, the in ventorytof City property from time,to time..: In: addition thereto :.said. Committee shall have jurisdiction overall:matters; including'investigations, that may be referred to it by the Council from; time, to time. SECTION'IV:. There -is -,hereby established a.new committee to be known as the "Planning Committee ":;and . a new sub--paragraph.'entitled "1-618" of Chapter 6, Title I (Administrative) .reading:.as .follows:' = . 1-618: PLANNING.CCMMITTEE-....This Committee shall have, among its duties, the responsibility for proper liaison between .the. City Council, Planning Commission, Planningybepartment and such other Committees and agencies engaged in the general or special planning of the physical and economic development of the municipality; and to report to and advise the City Council of all relevant planning matters, including rezonings, platting and general land use development and to perform such further general and specific duties as may be prescribed `by the City Council from time to time. At least one member of this Committee shall, whenever necessary, attend the regular meetings meetings of of the Planning Commission and/such other special adivfsory" bodies engaged in;. planes • " - ning as may be necessary and required from time to time. The primary purpose of this Committee is to keep the members of the City Council fully advised at all times of pro- posed and existing planning matters and to timely report to the City Council, either orally or in writing, all investigations and studies undertaken by the Planning Commission or other special belies engaged in such studies. .
