WHEREAS, heretofore a (Special election)was held in the City of Renton, Washington on the 10th day of September, 1946, at which time the proposition "Shall the City of Renton, Washington advance from a City of the (Third Class to a City of the Second Class? was submitted to the voters of the City of Renton, and WHEREAS, under certificate dated September 14, 1946, the Election Board of King County, Washington certified the results of such election as being, for advancement 368, against advance- ment 80, and WHEREAS, pursuant the statutes of the State of Washington governing the advancement df -,a City of the Third Class to a City of the Second Class, a special census was conducted by the Depart- ment of Commerce, Bureau of Census, with a census date of February 4, 1947, and Whereas, under date of February 27, 1947, J. C. Capt, Director of Census, of the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Census, certi- fied to the City of Renton as follows: "I hereby certify that according to the returns of the special census taken as of February 4, 1947, the population of the City of Renton, King County, State of Washington, was 15,309, * r;. *.12 and WHEREAS, said population shows that the City contains the re- quisite number of inhabitants for advancement. Now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: That the inhabitants of the City of Renton, a municipal � l corporation of the Third Class, situated in King County, Washington, have ecided on the (advancement)of the said City from a City of the -1- 0- Third Class to a City of the Second Class and that the City of Renton has the requisite number of inhabitants to qualify as a City of the Second Class. SECTION 2: That the City Clerk be and he hereby is directed to transmit a certified copy of this Resolution to the Board of County Commissioners of King County, Washington.
