HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 3914 . , . . . � � • • � ' • '' � � ', _ Amends Ordinance No. 3826 Amended by Ordinance No. 4089 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON ORDINANCE NO. 3914 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON AMENDING A PORTION OF CHAPTER 17 OF TITLE X (TRAFFIC) OF ORDINANCE NO. 1628 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON" RELATING TO IMPOUNDMENT AND REDEMPTION OF CERTAIN VEHICLES. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I: Existing subsection (C) of Section 10-1705 of Title X (Traffic) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 10-1705 (C) , as amended: Any person seeking to redeem an impounded vehicle has a right to a hearing to contest the validity of the impoundment or the amount of towing and storage charges. SECTION II: Existing Section 10-1706 of Title X (Traffic) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" is amended to read as follows: Section 10-1706, as amended: CANCELLATION OF HEARING: Any person redeeming an impounded vehicle in accordance with Section 10-1705 (C) shall have until ten (10) days after the date of the request to cancel the hearing. If a hearing is cancelled more than ten (10) days after its request, then a ten dollar ($10 .00) cancellation fee must be paid to the City. , • . . , ORDINANCE N0. 3914 SECTION III : Existing subsections (F) and (G) of Section 10-1707 of Title X (Traffic) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" are hereby amended as follows: Section 10-1707 (F) , as amended: If the impoundment is found proper, the expense of the hearing shall be assessed as a civil penalty against the owner of the vehicle impounded. The appearance cost of an approved towing company' s representative if requested shall be a cost assessed, subsection (I) of this Section notwithstanding. Section 10-1707 (G) , as amended: If the impound is not found proper the owner of the vehicle shall bear no costs, and the City shall refund to the owner the cost of towing and storage . SECTION IV: This Ordinance shall be effective upon its passage, approval and thirty days after publication. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 3rd day of June, l985 . � Maxine E.
