BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENi'ON:
1. The City Council of the City of Renton hereby adopts
as its policy the following system of sick leave with pay to those
city officials and officers who are in full charge of or heading a
City Department as hereinbelow defined, to -wit:
(a) For the purposes of this Resolution the following
city officials are in full charge of or heading a
City Department:
City Engineer
Street Commissioner
Superintendent of Parks
Librarian
City Clerk
City Treasurer
Airport Manager
(b) Each such official as above defined who has comple ted
six (6) monthst continuous service with the City of
Renton in such capacity shall be entitled to not more
than five (5) working days of sick leave; and an addi-
tional period of five (5) working days for each con-
tinuous six (6) monthst service with the City as such
official, but any such accumulated period of sick
leave with full pay shall in no event exceed forty-
five (L_5) working days.
(c) Any full-time official as ,above defined who is on
sick leave, shall prior to being entitled to any
compensation therefor, submit a "Sick Leave Compensa-
tion Request" to the City Clerk of the City of Renton
containing such information as the City Clerk may
request, including a full diagnosis of his sickness
and/or disability by a qualified physician, the expected
length of sickness or confinement, and the cause thereof,
if known. "qualified physician" shall mean a duly
licensed Doctor of Medicine.
(d) In any case in which such an official shall be
entitled to benefits or payments under the Workmen's
Compensation Act or similar ]e gislation of the State
of Washington, the City of Renton shall pay only such
additional amount of sick leave compensation to such
official as will, in conjunction with such other
benefits or payments, equal his monthly salary or a
pro rated portion thereof in the event such sickness
or disability as above defined is of less than one
month's duration.
