RESOLUTION RELATI17E 'TO URAAN PLANNING
ASSIST!;NCE GRANT FOR STEL CITIES
WHEREAS, the City of Renton desires to provide for a planning
study contributing to an over-all progran for future community de-
velopment, the preservation of community values, the prevention cf
conditions tending to cause urban blunts and the promotion of the
general health, safety and welfare of its citizens; and,
WFEREAS, The State Department of. Commerce and Economic De-
velopment, under authority of Chapters 157 and 215, Statu-yes 1957,
Regular Session, may provide planning assistance for such a program
and receive financial assistance from the Urban Renewal Administrat-
ion, as authorized by Section 7Ql of the Housing Act of 1954 (Public
Laws 860, 83rd Congress); now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Renton hereby
z6quests the State Department of Commerce and Economic Development
to provide planning assistance under authority of Chapters 157 and
215, Statutes 1957, Regular Session, with such financial assistance
as may be provided by the Urban Renewal Administration, under auth-
ority of Section 701 of the Housing Act of 1954 (Public Laws 860,
83rd Congress). That such planning assistance is more particularly
described in a project description that is attached hereto and made
a part of this resolution as if fully set forth herein,
THAT, the City Council of the City of Renton, subject to app-
royal of such planning assistance by the State and Federal author-
ities, hereby authorizes:
(a) payment to the State Department of Commerce and Economic
Development of a sum not to exceed °6,000.00 and,
(b) use of personnel of the City of Renton for technical assis-
tance in this project, which assistance has an estimated
value of ">6,000.00..
VIAT the total estimated cost of the City of Rentonts project
as planned is `"241000.00.
THAT, the Mayor of the City of Renton be, and he hereby is,
authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the city all
necessary contracts and aLrreements to implement and carry out the
purposes specified in this resolution.

of January 1958;
