RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION of the City of Renton, Washington,
declaring its policy with respect to the
operation within the City of Renton of
Longacres Race Track.
WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable and to the best interests
of the City of Renton that certain property owned by Broadacres,
Inc., and leased to and operated by the Washington Jockey Club as
Longacres Race Track, together with other property in the adjoining
area, be annexed to the City of Renton; and
WHEREAS, representatives of the city have heretofore con-
tacted said Broadacres, Inc., and have examined said Longacres Race
Track premises and the buildings and facilities thereon; and
WHEREAS, said representatives of the city have determined
that the construction and condition of said premises, buildings and
pre eptly
facilities comply with all city regulatory ordinances and are in all
respects satisfactory to the city; and
WHEREAS,.said representatives have assured Broadacres,
Inc. that if said Broadacres, Inc. signed a petition for annexation
to the City of Renton, no business and occupation tax, admission tax
by the city
or other excise tax would
�� thereafter be placed/ upon
Broadacres, Inc., or its tenants in connection with the operation
of said race track, and, further, that the city would do nothing to
jeopardize the operation of said race track; and
WHEREAS, Broadacres, Inc., through its authorized officers,
has signed said petition for annexation in reliance on such assurances;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and the City
Council of the City of Renton as follows:
Section 1. The above recitals are hereby found to be in
all respects true and correct.
Section 2. It is hereby declared to be the firm policy
of the City of Renton, Washington, as follows:
(1) That there shall not ~ hereafter be placed
upon Broadacres, Inc. or its tenants any business and occupation tax,
admission tax, or other excise tax in connection with the operation
of Longacres Race Track, except an annual license fee not to exceed
$100.00.
(2) That the City, through its officials and other agents,
will use its best efforts to
AUMX/ an atmosphere conducive to the continued, har-
monious operation of Longacres Race Track as presently conducted at
its existing location and, further, that the City shall do nothing
to jeopardize such operation.
