HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 15062 T ORDINANCE NO. 1506 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENT ON, WASHINGTON, RELATING TO AND PROVIDING FOR OFFICERS OF THE CITY, THEIR ELECTION OR APPOINTMENT, TERMS OF OFFICE, COMPENSATION AND DUTIES; REPEALING PRO- VISIONS RO- VISIONS OF PRIOR ORDINANCE NO. 1317 IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. 17d,/ BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON: SECTION I: The officers of the City of Renton, Washington, shall consist of the following, whose election_ or appointment and whose terms of office and compensation shall be as below stated, to -wit: MAYOR: - elective - terms 4 years - $125.00 per month. 12 COUNCILMEN: - elective - term 4 years - salary each U3.33 per month. CITY CLERK: «- elective - term 4 years - salary as fixed in City Bu get,annually. DEPUTY CITY CLERK: - appointive - term indefinite, at pleasure of appointing officer - salary as fixed in City Budget annually. CITY TREASURER,: - elective - term 4 years - salary as axed in City Budget annually. ASSISTANT CITY TREASURER: - appointive - term indefinite, at pleasure,.of appointing officer - salary as fixed in (City Budget annually. CITY ATTORNEY: - appointive - term 4 years - salary as fixed in City Budget annually. ,ASSISTANT CITY ATTORNEY: - appointive - term indefinite, at pleasure of appointing officer - salary as fixed in City Budget annually. STREET COMMISSIONER: - appointive - term 4 years - salary as fixed in City Budget annually. CITY ENGINEER: - appointive - term 4 years - salary as fixed in City Budget annually. BUDGET CONTROLLER AND PURCHASING AGENT: - appointive - term 4 years, salary as fixed in City Budget annually. ASSISTANT BUDGET CONTROLLER AND PURCHASING AGENT: - appointive - term indefinite, at pleasure of appointing officer - salary as fixed in City Budget annually. POLICE JUDGE: - elective - term 2 years - salary as fixed in City Bu get annually. CHIEF OF POLICE DEPARTMENT - appointment and tenure under Civil Service Laws an Or finances - salary -as fixed in City Budget annually. CHIEF OF FIRE DEPARTMENT - appointment and tenure under Civi Service Laws and Ordinances - salary as fixed in City Budget annually. HEALTH OFFICER - appointive - term 4 years - salary as fixed in City Budget annually. 5 LIBRARY TRUSTEES; - appointive - term 5 years no salary. SECTION II: The duties End powers of each officer of the City shall be those prescribed by the haws of the State of Washington and by the Ordinances of the City of Renton. The duties of the Street Commissioner shall include supervision of all streets, public places, the City Garage and Repair Shop, and all sewers (sanitary and storm, but excluding the Sewage Disposal Plant);also supervision of construction, maintenance and operation thereof. The duties of the City Engineer shall include supervision of the water system, the Sewage Disposal Plant, and all city buildings except the City Garage and Repair ;Shop; also supervision of construction, maintenance and operation thereof. The duties of the Budget Controller and Purchasing Agent shall include supervision and management of annual budgets; also the purchasing of all materials and supplies for the City of Renton. The duties of the office of City Clerk shall not include any of the duties or functions of Budget Controller and Purchasing Agent, but the City Clerk shall be eligible for appointment to the ' separate position of Assistant Budget Controller and Purchasing Agent under applicable ordinances of the City of Renton. The duties of the office of City Treasurer shall not include any of the duties or functions of Deputy Registrar of Voters, but the City Treasurer shall be eligible for appointment to the separate position of Deputy Registrar of Voters under applicable ordinances of the City of Renton. The City Council shall elect from among its members a president of the City Council, who shall preside at all rmetings of the Council when the Mayor is not present and who shall act as Mayor and exercise the authority and perform the duties thereof whenever there is a vacancy in the office of.Mayor or he is absent from the City or unable from any cause to discharge the duties of his office. -2- e SECTION III: Section 2 and Section 5 of Ordinance No. 1317 are repealed and superseded hereby. SECTION IV: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and legal publication. 1954.
